I like everything about scroll reverser except its memory consumption. It is constantly at nearly 400mb real memory usage. I have also found that the reverser sometimes doesn't reverse my mouse wheel and I have to quit and relaunch it.
Real memory usage got up over 500MB. I restarted the app, and it is now at just 19.6MB. Looks like there is a memory leak. I will keep an eye on it and see if its memory usage creeps up again.
Two days after restarting the app it is back up to 86MB real memory used. So I think there is definitely a memory leak. I hope the dev checks the comments here. I couldn't find a bug report link on their website.
I found the contact info on the dev site and he was very responsive. He said he found the leak (which was related to a conflict with Better Touch Tool) and sent me a fixed version to test. I've been running it for a five days now and so far so good. I think he should be releasing the fix to the public soon.
Installing this made my dock freak out, doubling and redoubling the reflections and turning it into an ugly mess. I was able to fix the issue by altering one of the prefs, but when I rebooted, the issue was back again. I don't think this is the Pref Pane's fault, I think the feature is not debugged and that is why it is turned off by default. To fix the problem permanently I uninstalled the Pref Pane and as back to normal. So the lesson is that there is a reason some of these prefs are hidden: they are buggy and not ready for general use.
9/20/09: This version (1.0.6) says it is Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) compatible. It installed on my MBP running 10.6.1, but when I tried to open the Pref Pane, it froze my system, requiring a restart. Uninstalled and reinstalled, with the same result. Uninstalled for good.
Be aware that this requires Jack. When I installed Jack, it jacked up several of my audio systems. I would rather use a "lesser" app like Audacity or Amadeus that doesn't require Jack or soundflower or any other sound system hack.
This is a great program for free, and had been very stable for me until the latest (beta) release.
Which brings me to the most impressive feature: the support. The latest (beta) version kept quitting on me. I sent the developer an email with my data, preferences, and crash log files and just a couple of hours later they sent me a link to a fixed version! On a Saturday, no less. Incredible response.
The flakes are pretty, but the falling is not at all realistic. I would like to see different flakes fall at different speeds. The more surface area a flake possesses, the more air resistance, so the slower it should fall. It also might be cool if gusts of wind might blow flakes around a little bit.
Having a conflict that is slowing Safari down: Plugins/Safari AdBlocker.bundle/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/Sparkle.framework/Versions/A/Sparkle and /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/Safari Cookies.bundle/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/Sparkle.framework/Versions/A/Sparkle. One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.
This error repeats itself over and over and over and Safari gets progressively slower and slower.
This is conflicting with the 3ivx codec plug-in and killing MS Office. The problem is probably with Office, since none of the other programs that use Quicktime are choking by having both plug-ins installed. Just wanted to warn people that they may encounter this problem: documents will launch, but starting any of the apps from scratch will lead to a crash just before the Project Gallery comes up.
This seems to have a conflict with the Flip4Mac plug-in that prevents MS Office apps from launching. The problem is likely with one of the other products (my money is on Office, since none of the other apps that use Quicktime have choked by having both plugins installed). Just thought I would let people know that if you install this along with Flip4Mac, you may have problems.
