HyperDock

Moofthestoof reviewed on 12 Feb 2011
I have a Cinch license, but I've uninstalled it and will pony up for this once the trial is over. So full featured with the classic mac trait of enabling rather than obstructing workflow.

June
MoofTheStoof commented on 07 Sep 2009
I like experimenting with different UIs and workflows so I thought I'd give it a try. Now I'm currently booting from the back-up clone of my SSD (and booting from an HD once you're used to SSD is paaaaaainful) trying to figure out exactly *which* files June erased - because it surely wasn't the files I told it to erase. I know everything in ~/Desktop and ~/Documents are gone as well as some things from ~/Library (I was using June to delete a very large directory from ~/Library that Crossover Games had put there from a Steam install). So all-in-all, I'm not too thrilled with June, right now.

TabExpose

It's one of those features that you didn't know you were missing, but the second you use it you slap yourself on the forehead and say, "oh, how did I live without this." Seriously.

Hyperbole aside, it's really good. A slight hesitation when you press the key (or button if you map it to a mouse key like I already have), but that's inconsequential compared to what it does for usability. 5 stars all the way. The price is reasonable, the install easy, and functionality exactly what you've been waiting for.

Secrets

MoofTheStoof reviewed on 17 Jun 2008
1.0.4 catches us back up, again. This little tool is fantastic. It easily opens up secret preferences all over the place - and not just in Apple apps! As always, think before you click as you might accidentally hose your system. YMMV.

Twucket

Freeware cocoa twitter client! built in spell-check, dictionary, text-to-speech! Sort of no-frills, otherwise, but it's free without ads unlike Twitterific, and not Adobe Air driven like Twhirl. Very nice, so far.

Audio Hijack Pro
MoofTheStoof commented on 06 Feb 2008
Can no longer automatically launch and hijack Safari since upgrading to 2.8 - it errors out - and since I have this running on a remote media mac and it's supposed to be automatic, it's not been recording my podcasts since upgrading to 2.8. First time I've been less-than-happy since purchasing my license for AHP a couple of years ago.

Timbuktu Pro

I purchased the upgrade to 8.6 just a couple of months ago, and would really be upset if I had to pay $50 per license to get the 8.7 upgrade. Thankfully, I've not missed TB2, yet, because the screensharing feature built into 10.5 does the task admirably. Now, I haven't yet tried it on machines outside my LAN, but since I never did with TB2 either, I'm not sweating it.

Good idea and useful, but the scale is way off. I have an iPhone and websites appear much smaller on a real iPhone.

I posted a couple photos on my Flickr page so you can see what I'm talking about. Text and layouts don't match, and can get really mismatched on some pages.

System 47

Fantastic! I have three monitors and this fills each monitor with ever-changing, unique-to-each content and looks fabulous! My seven year old son is also a trek fan and he could stare at this for hours.

Hands down the best visualizer I've seen - and I pretty much try them all. Just beautiful, works flawlessly (on my G5, haven't tried on my 1GHz G4 PowerBook), and just the right mix of art and information.

Fantastic.

VirtualBox
Moofthestoof had trouble on 17 May 2011
Overall it's great, but 4.0.8 was supposed to address the problems with the new processors but still crashes on my 2011 MacBook Pro Core i7. In fact, the only crashes I've ever had with this machine are while running VirtualBox. I've had to resort to running VirtualBox on a Mac Mini on my LAN and Screensharing to do my work.
