TeamViewer

7.0.10723 is still a beta. Latest release is 6.0.10706, this 6.x release also was updated along with the 7.x beta version. Obviously, this page is linked to the beta channel instead of the release channel (or MARK IT BETA).

Wuala

Molamola reviewed on 02 Nov 2011
I have to offset "normbs" 1/2 star rating a little. I have to admit I never looked in the manual. To "sync", just press on "New", choose Sync and choose a Wuala and a Local Folder to sync.
I agree that Dropbox is easier to use, but Data is only encrypted on Dropbox Servers and Dropbox has the key, so they can decrypt it if they like. Wuala encrypts on the client, and Wuala has no key - so it's a lot safer. Wuala claims they could not decrypt, well, there is no proof this is true but it should be safer than Dropbox. Their servers are in switzerland and france, so they are not under the us "patriot act", which is important especially in europa, because basically it is illegal to put any privat data from other people (clients, friends...) on a server where the US government could spy at if they like in most european countries.
Also, you can sync any folder you like at any location, not only a Dropbox folder. Besides Syncing, Wuala also offers the possibility to backup folders. And then, many LaCie Harddiscs offer promotion codes which give you free extra storage.
So all in all, I think it's worth to look at, even if I have to agree that the interface could be improved and dropbox is a lot simpler.

USB Overdrive X
Molamola commented on 27 Sep 2011
With OS Lion, I started to experience kernel panics right after startup. I deinstalled USB Overdrive and am testing SteerMouse now, seems this solves the problem.
So to me and also from the reports it seems that USB Overdrive has some issues with Lion and is in need of an update. I would love to continue to use it, but at this time I'd recommend to annybody to wait for some sign of live from the developer if USB Overdrive is still under active development und if there will be a new Version updated for OS Lion before purchasing a license. I will get my SteerMouse license if there are no news here within the next 30 days (which is when my SteerMouse trial period will end).

If the developer still cares he should at least update the website and state 10.7 compatibility. The last time he touched the site was 2009... I don't think this would be to much of an effort if he still wants to sell licenses.

Safari AdBlock

Molamola reviewed on 30 Apr 2011
Still slows down Safari a lot, page loading hangs/stalls for seconds. After opening some pages, Safari uses about twice the memory than without AdBlock, often well above 1 Gig. I dont know if it s AdBlocks fault or the fault of Safaris Plugin API, but something seems to be terribly wrong with Safaris Memory Management when using AdBlock, which probably is also one main root of the performance issues.

GlimmerBlocker

Molamola reviewed on 30 Apr 2011
Still the only AdBlocker which does not slow down Safari.
I try the AdBlock Extension every once in a while, but specially after I've opened a couple of pages Safari slows down and takes ages to open pages. Memory use of Safari doubles at least and often exceeds 1 Gig. I don't know if AdBlock is the fault or Apple Extension API, but there is something terrible wrong with Safaris Memory Management when using AdBlock.
GlimmerBlocker in comparison causes 0 issues.

Adobe Reader

Molamola reviewed on 27 Apr 2011
I returned to 9.4.x because of the horrible new, non standard printer settings. No reliable way to print duplex. Sometimes the second page is printed empty, then simply no duplex at all, adobes settings and the system wide settings simply seem to fight each other... - the new print dialogue works fine in the windows version, but is a mess on mac osx. feels like they just used windows code and abandoned any effort of porting it halfways in the process.
