hmm just tried 97RC1 and it is a VAST improvement over the previous versions ...

It seems to be hovering around 5% cpu use while idle and does stutter a bit when opening new chat windows but the interface is actually pretty good now and it doesn't seem to have the same ridiculous ram consumption that it used to. Webcam support is pretty good too. I must admit to be rather suprised by how much better it is than previous versions. Still nowhere near perfect of course but it is actually useable now. A good release candidate I think.

SRS iWOW Premium

mogwai1983 reviewed on 22 Aug 2007
I was slightly disappointed by the sound quality coming from my Harman Kardon Soundstick II's initially and was constantly tweaking the equaliser to try and get a decent sound from them.

This app has been absolutely wonderful though does require a little adjustment for certain tracks. Has made my speakers sound unbelievably brilliant. One downside though is that when idle it uses a ridiculous amount of CPU power. I have a dual 1.8GHz G4 and when iTunes is completely idle it is eating around 40% cpu across both processors.

Thankfully loading the srs iWow window up, turning it off and then back on again seems to completely solve the problem ... albeit until you next start iTunes. Something the developers really should sort out.

I give it 4 stars at it is a brilliant program but I think that it still needs some work.

What on earth are the developers thinking? Have they been smoking too much special stuff?

This application has been next to useless from the very outset. Now this is worse than useless, impressivey useless... impressive even for the dotless morons who wrote it.

You cannot select text fields to even enter your msn email address yet alone when you eventually get around this ridiculous flaw, it is slow, buggier than a rainforest on a hot summers day, seems to be eating an impossible amount of RAM and almost 100% of my CPU.

Eventually this app becomes so bogged down that the whole machine gives up and hangs on the perpetual beachball, not allowing you to switch apps or force quit. I couldn't even ssh into the machine to kill the process.

Kindly decist from developing the hideous wart of an application any further. It will make everyones days go that much better.

Logitech Control Center
mogwai1983 commented on 07 Mar 2007
For goodness Sake. When a big company like logitech releases a set of drivers for a major computing platform is it too much to expect that it works?

I have had nothing but grief from this bug riddled useless heap of cack. Was it actually written by a person or did a monkey with a word processor do most of the work?

All this app seems to be useful for is interfereing with deep sleep on my G4 system, crashing the system preferences app whenever i try to configure it, and kernel panicking the machine whenever I replace the batteries in my cordless mouse (bizzarely).

The control Center randomly decides that it isn't going to work from time to time... there is no way to fix it short of manually removing every associated file (the uninstaller leaves some behind) deleting them (somehow a very satisfying action) and reinstalling it all over again. They really need to sort this out. My cordless mouse and keyboard are great products which are practical, functional and easy to use... (look quite nice too) It is a shame that they are utterly let down by the drivers.
