I've tried every other cookie management program, browser plugin, etc... for Mac and *nothing* comes close to doing the job that Cookie does.
Plus, Sweet P has been a dedicated developer for mac for years and I trust them. Their after sales support is excellent, just look at how the developer replies to people in the comments here.
There is a learning curve at first or really it's just a setup curve unless you need educating on what cookies are and how they work. If you know about cookies already this program is very robust.
Please keep it lean and mean, I'm noticing some "feature creep" in the last couple releases that added features. I'd hate to see this get bloated as it has a pretty specific scope of what it does.
Hey MacUpdate, when are you going to stop featuring applications that can't even hold a 2 star rating?
Don't you care about what your user base thinks?
It's pretty clear that the vast majority of us hate this new version and no changes have been made to address the major gripes for several releases now. Most of us, myself included use the old 2.8.x version so how about giving featured app status to something more deserving instead?
Skype, the lowest rated featured app on MU. When are you going to take a hint MU that we hate version 5.x, and remove it from begin a featured application?
How can you justify featuring an application with so many reviews that can only barely clock in at 2 stars?
I don't know why but in 10.6.8 Software Update this is a 551MB download but here at MU it's only 292MB. Usually updates in Software Update are smaller than the 'manual' downloads as they can be customized somewhat based on what you already have installed. Oh well, I'm going to take the plunge with the download here and if you don't hear back then everything went OK. :)
Well, time for me to eat my hat here and apologize to Ed. After watching the releases for VS the last few months I see that it's not updated just to keep it on the front page of MU. Perhaps Ed goes through busy phases where he pumps out a lot of updates but in the last few months things have slowed down and I saw week or 2 go by without an update, until a flurry of recent activity.
I'd much prefer an app that is as well attended to as Ed does to VS over one that is left to languish and an unresponsive developer. I agree, it doesn't get any better than the customer service Ed Hamrick gives.
As for the application, it does everything I want on my Epson v600 photo / film / slide scanner and is a breeze to work with. When you are scanning thousands of pictures at high resolutions with multiple passes the multi frame options are indispensable. I could go on about the virtues of this application but for any serious scanning with a Mac this is the only program to use. I can't find anything wrong with it so that's my review.
I wish it could make my scanner do multi-pass scans by scanning the entire bed in one pass but, the scan head returns to the beginning after each pass over each frame. This is probably a hardware limitation.
Sorry I jumped your butt Ed and keep up the good work!
This is the worst version of Mac OS X to date. First off they removed support for the Apple USB Modem by simply not writing a 64-bit wrapper for the 32-bit driver. I paid $50 for it a couple years ago and now it's worthless.
They also removed iSync. This is a blatant move to make it harder to sync any phone with Lion than an Apple phone. The application still works if you move it from Snow Leo to Lion so there is absolutely no other reason for this.
Autosave and versions are implemented terribly. There is good versioning software out there and Apple should have copied what works instead of writing this steaming pile and then giving me no controls to disable it. Apple thinks they know what's best for me so I have to do it there way or hit the highway.
Apple's answer to the no longer included Samba, the netbiosd daemon, is a complete disaster. Windows file sharing is now completely broken. This daemon runs all the time weather I initiate any kind of SMB service or not and if you have Little Snitch installed and use a public wifi it will drive you insane.
Thank god I did a clean install on an external hard drive rather than installing over Snow Leo on my internal. It was easy to revert back to SL.
I have sent Apple more feedback over this release of OS X than I have cumulatively previous to trying to use Lion.
I don't care about Launchbad and gestures I can take it or leave it but this "update" takes control from the user and I will not tolerate that. This may be my last version of OS X, and my last Mac, after being a dedicated user since the 80s. Windows is just not that bad of an alternative anymore.
In summary, Lion is a disaster. Give me back my Mac, if I want an iPhone or iPad I'll go buy one!
Nontroppo, I understand that you may have no need for a modem, dial-up is dying a fast death, but several people still use them extensively for faxing. A document is not legal when emailed, only if it is faxed. The Apple USB modem would wake the computer on ring and it has a built-in surge suppressor. Try to find any of these features in the cheap Chinese replacements. I use mine daily.
This version upgrades MapManager to version 2.1.3.1beta. When you do a custom install it does show that it will be "upgrading" MapManager and MapInstall applications but it does not indicate to what version which would allow you to unselect those applications if you already have a newer version installed to prevent an unintended downgrade. This should not even be an issue though because the installer should be smart enough not to downgrade applications to older versions.
It's very confusing the way Garmin is packaging updates. MapManager and MapInstall updates were released quite recently and listed on MacUpdate as separate updates but in fact both listings point to the same download/file which installs both applications, again, without indicating what version is being installed.
Like I said in my previous comment for version 3.0.1, it is very poor practice to not identify in the installer description that it will be updating or downgrading applications other than BaseCamp. I'm happy that Garmin is supporting the Mac but it wouldn't take much more effort to be clear about what these packages contain and what is going to be updated. Also, if they're going to continue bundling multiple application updates into each release without indicating as much in the name or description then make the installers smart enough to recognize when you have a newer version and don't mess with it!
Finally, I don't see in the release notes that the problem with not displaying the latest BlueChart maps has been addressed in this update.
This version downgraded my Garmin MapInstall app from 2.1.6 to 2.1.5. Suggest doing a custom install and unticking MapInstall until we get an explanation from Garmin.
I wish it was clearly indicated that this package installs more than just the BaseCamp application.

Personally, I'd be featuring ClickToFlash instead.

Hey MU mods / admin, if an app has under 3 stars it should lose it's featured status.
This steaming pile certainly doesn't deserve it.

Google Chrome
I searched the web but didn't find a 64-bit version. I did find a bit of chatter about it earlier in the year.
Could it be that my new browser here is one of the few apps I have that is not 64-but yet?
Using the latest stable 15.0.874.106

Recommend Dictionary Editor 1.3.0 instead.

Updating from 3.1.3 FYI

Actually, according to this kb:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2518
I think you can update from any version of Aperture 3.x straight to 3.2.1.
I'm really excited now based on Surfspirit's comment below. Aperture has always been a dog slow embarrassment so let's hope this puts that to rest!
