Apple iTunes

I'd like to suggest to those of you having issues with iTunes plug-ins to consider AU or VST plug-ins and use them in a VST/AU host such as Audio HiJack Pro. There is an incredible library of audio plugins both free and pay and you can browse some of them here:

http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/mac/PLUGINS_VST/

or here (the link lands you on Sonimus SonEQ, one of the many free equalizers you can find that beat the crap out of the iTunes native):

Have fun!

Here's what I use:

http://www.brainworx-music.de/en/plugins

I use BX_Digital with BX_XL limiter.

The iTunes plugins are a bit limited from what I understand.

As far as iTunes 10.4 is concerned - meh, I still use Ecoute and only use iTunes to sync...

Gorgeous application. Audio Hijack Pro-compatible. Works in Lion. And now you *can* add mp3s and add them to your playlist - just click on the "+" button in the .m3u playlist window.

I'll give it 5 stars when it can handle internet radio streams.

So far, it doesn't seem to support internet radio streams. Fix that and I'm sold. Very nicely done. Hard to choose between this and Ecoute. Let the battle begin!

Ecoute

Excellent application. I used it with Audio HiJack Pro, filtering with Apple's Multiband Compressor, PSPAudioware ConsoleQ equalizer and PSP Xenon limiter.

So nice not to have to run iTunes. And Ecoute will also play internet streams from Shoutcast if you create playlists for them in iTunes.

The Album cover grabber is slightly cludgy but it works. Hope a lyric is integrated at some point.

I kinda-sorta liked the Album Art player window from 1.x - maybe something like it in the future, perhaps?

The controller is pretty nice - needs a default icon for radio streams or missing artwork.

10 bucks is a steal for this, considering the time these folks put into it.

4.5 stars...subjective. It deserves 5 but I'm taking a 1/2 point away because the interface looks like its in a interim stage.
The rating interface only let me give it a "1" for stability and I'd have given it 5 - no problems or crashes with it.

There's also a distinct possibility I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. Cheers!
