You can already find the following notice in the About tab, "No actual videos are downloaded by TVShows, only torrents and NZBs which require other programs to use. It is up to the user to decide the legality of using any files downloaded by this application, in accordance with applicable copyright laws of their country."
I'll attempt to make it more prominent, however, but at the end of the day I have to leave it up to users to know whether or not using the files TVShows downloads is legal in their country.
> This is very misleading since most of the programs listed are broadcast in the United States.
I'm sorry you feel this way, but I haven't meant for anything to be misleading. I don't gain any money from creating this software. Donations I've gotten don't even pay for the hosting required, so I gain nothing from "tricking" people into using this application. It's up to you to know whether or not something is legal in your country. If you buy a gun and go shoot someone you can't blame me because I didn't warn you that it's illegal to do so.
> It sounds like entrapment to me.
Wikipedia: "Entrapment is when a law enforcement agent induces a person to commit an offense that the person would otherwise have been unlikely to commit."
I'm sorry you feel this way but I'm not a law enforcement agent and I haven't induced you into committing any crimes. And I'm fairly positive the people releasing these torrents/NZBs/etc aren't either.
Again, I understand your concern, but your ISP is not required by any United States law to disconnect you from the internet. I would certainly be quite upset if that happened to me too, but it's not my fault that you weren't informed.
I'll consider having an alert displayed the first time the application is run.
We had to disable GitHub issues because of spammers. You can still contact us on Twitter (http://twitter.com/embercode), in app if you're using the new beta, or by going to our website. :)
Sorry about a bug in 0.4.6 that prevented TVShows from launching on anything other than Snow Leopard. TVShows 0.4.7 has fixed this issue and everything should be working fine now. :)
(Also, ezRSS was down for most of the month. I'm working on custom RSS feeds so that maybe we can offload some of our requests onto other servers and help those guys out.)
Since the original developer has gone missing for over 2 years, I took it upon myself to update the TVShows app. I can't promise I'll be adding any new features (though there are a few I'm working on) but I will attempt to make sure that TVShows keeps working as long as the websites that power it are still online.
As of now, the newest version is 0.4.1. Please let me know if you have any issues. I'll be adding a more thorough support forum to my site within the next week or so.
