Movie Draft SE
Martinbb commented on 08 Sep 2011
I feel I have to make the obvious observation, in the interests of transparency, that this application seems to borrow some of its ideas from Scrivener, particularly the non-linear writing idea. Even the advertising line "Probably the biggest advance in screenplay writing since the advent of the typewriter" is similar to Michael Marshal Smith's comment about Scrivener: "The biggest software advance for writers since the word processor.” I make this observation merely as a user of Scrivener (who has no affiliation with the company that makes it), knowing that a lot of work has gone into making it a very fine tool. I'd recommend giving it a try. To judge from the testimonials on their site, there are professional screenwriters who find it an excellent piece of software. Their forums are also remarkably useful.

Note to MacUpdate: the price on this page appears to be incorrect. On the developer's site it is given as $14. On the App Store it is $13.99.

The poster is not making some sort of joke. See this report about the developer's untimely death, and also his son's statement of his commitment to the application:

Bookends

On the advice of the developer I have rebuilt the database file. This seems to have solved the problem. My thanks to him for the rapid response.

Bookends
martinbb had trouble on 07 Feb 2009
Powerbook G4 1.67 GHz 1 GB, OS 10.4.11 latest patches.
I downloaded a trial a couple of days ago and imported 15 references from my Endnote library. Bookends "quit unexpectedly" within minutes and has done so several times when attempting to quit the application normally. More seriously, it has just crashed while I was simply moving the pointer from one item in the menu bar to the next. I have also been trying out Sente, and so far it has been completely stable. I haven't yet used the two applications enough to make any other useful comments about them.

Cyberduck
martinbb had trouble on 13 Jan 2009
When synchronising, Cyberduck deleted files on my local drive that were newer than the files on the remote, then crashed. It has taken a day to sort things out, and some of the files are still missing. Beware.
