Everything about Sophos has been a pleasure to discover. Free personal anti-virus protection. Timely updates. Engaging commentary online and on Facebook. This software is on all the Macs at home - Lion and Snow Leopard - all the various Macs in the family and on the Macs of many, many friends. Bravo!
Beautiful. Works exactly as advertised. Lion Tweaks dismissed the atrocious skins in iCal and Address Book, cleanly and easily. The interface is straight forward, the developer is clearly attentive and responsive, and the software is free. Bravo!
I grabbed the Lion beta and half an hour later I can feel the tension starting to ease after two days little annoyances cropping up practically everywhere.
Onyx remains the go to app when my Macs need a fix or some serious maintenance is called for. How can this possibly be free?
As a programming exercise, this is pretty neat. Not, as LizBo says, real practical, though. In English, lots of words exist to break the rules. Dice is one of them> Dice is the plural of die, but only when referring to the ones you roll. So two or more are dice, and one is a die. No dices.
My system is always current. So I downloaded a fresh copy of Total Finder, ran the Uninstaller, restarted, and ran the installer. Hey, there's the sidebar. Thanks for the quick response and making me think.
Though it isn't here on Mac Update yet, the Safari 5 iteration Of PithHelmet 3 is available on the developer's site and works like the charm it is.
I have been running PitHelmet for many years. Many years. It is hands down the most effective and manipulable content filter I've ever found. Yes, I've used Safari AdBlocker, and it doesn't come close. With PithHelmet I can seen absolutely nothing but the content I want to see on any site. Or, I can choose to see all of the ads, or all of a particular kind of ad. It's genius.
With each Safari whole digit upgrade, theres a brief pause in PithHelmet availability while Mike does his magic to make everything compatible, and each time, I am stunned by the ad content on sites I visit regularly.
No, I don't like this advertising paradigm on the internet. If I need to pay for access to content, I figure I can make that choice - and do, when the content provider lets me decide. I don't watch much broadcast tv, either.
I like the design and the functionality of Yojimbo, and my experiences with Barebones has always been great. My concern is this: At some point, my regular computer routine will be centered on Yojimbo, and my entire computer being will be stored inside Yojimbo's DB. Put another way, I will be completely dependent upon Yojimbo, and Barebones's continued support and development of Yojimbo, and I wonder about the wisdom of entering into that relationship with anyone.
I've been running Spirited Away for a year or two, and I don't know what computing would be without it. It does what it does, invisibly, with access right there on your menu bar. Brilliant software.
The install restart got into a loop trying to load GoogleDesktopAgent.app which I had failed to find pre upgrade. Force quitting Software Update was no relief, it just came back immediately. Booting into Root caused the box to hang. Twice. Being very patient dismissing no-load complaints I found and deleted the offending software and restarted successfully.
In Mail, Spam Sieve is gone. It's ugly already, as mail generated by Calendar is turning up as Spam. Ugh.
In Safari, my bookmarks are all intact, but none actually work. I mean, I can copy and paste them successfully, but clicking them, or pulling down to one elicits no response whatsoever. Ditto cookies. 1Password is a no-show which I have, admittedly, not checked out for an update yet.
I'm not jumping for Time Machine yet, but I'm glad to know I've got it.
On launch, this game drags my Mac to its knees. MacBook Pro/2.53ghz/4gb/core2/10.6.4. I turned off best graphics. I've launched it with nothing else running. I've trashed it (using game manager) and reinstalled. Can't get past the opening animation because I can't get real-time control of the cursor. Everything else - including all the games I've gotten through Big Fish - everything else runs fine.

Good, if superfluous, work!
