No requirement whatsoever to buy this app. If you want to delete DS Files etc. there are plenty of free apps on MU to allow you to do so. $11.99 is a lot of dough for such specific functionality. Homeworld pretty much nailed it in his comment....
This looks really interesting; lots of nice features. One thing I can't see (read the manual) is a balance control. I'm a muso (or at least try to be) and often it helps to isolate instrument parts by having a balance control, the way you might have on a Stereo Hi-Fi amp etc. I've been looking for something for ages that features this and there appear to be no apps out there that do. Ideally it'd be able to be int he menu bar, but just in the app would be fine.
Just downloaded the demo so going to give it a spin; I have some Bose Companions, which have some kind of surround processing juju already on board, so hopefully that won't conflict with what Hear is doing. Price seems perfectly reasonable for what it does too.
Ugh. Just installed this and the first thing I see is the obnoxious shareware countdown in the top RH corner of every one of my Finder windows - Bright blue: "Total Finder - 14 Days Left - Buy Now!" Vile.
I absolutely respect the right of a dev to issue some reminder to the user to register (although a simple time limited demo is ideal) but to have to see that reminder constantly is just a distraction, especially in something like the Finder - Totally un-ncessary. Would a simple dialogue window once or twice every 24 hours not be enough?
Well, I figured that after using TunnelBlick for ages I might give this a go. I like TB but it can be flaky on some occasions and the annoying window that pops up notifying you of the open VPN bug is a pain.
Unfortunately Viscosity can't even manage a connection - I've tried 3 different servers. Trying the same connections with TB works first time. Additionally, TB has a handy window that pops up during the connection process - It helps you know where to start looking for a failed connection (password etc.); Viscosity doesn't appear to have this. Looks thorough in terms of configuration and the importing of saved servers from TB was handy, but ultimately all the bells and whistles under the sun are no use if it won't actually connect...
It could be that I need to dig much deeper within Viscosity to find what is needed to connect, but in that case maybe it isn't really for average bods like me who just want something that you can set up and use quickly.
After about an hour of mucking about with settings still couldn't get it to work, then true to form the first time I try it after I write the review saying it didn't work for me, it connects first time. Hopefully it will keep the connection alive. Too early to say whether it's as good as/better than TB since it's only been up for a few minutes, but figured I should at least make a note on here to say that it's finally working. No idea what it was. TB was properly quit, had no browser/mail windows open etc. - Weird.
Update: This has been running flawlessly overnight and hasn't dropped a connection once - Impressed. I'm staying away from the multitude of settings in the prefs since it's working fine. I would still like the little pop-up window you used to get with TB as you connect, but a reliable connection is the most important thing (yes, I know that Viscosity has a window too, but it's different). Like the option of showing the IP Address you're connected to in the pull down menu. At $9.00 it seems well worth it, so I'm off to buy myself a license.
Installed perfectly, seems stable so far. Would definitely echo what some others have been saying about making sure permissions have been repaired if you're having problems on the install. I found the download speed from the file MU linked to was pitiful (overloaded, I suspect), but using the Software Update mechanism it came down quickly.
Once the whole iCloud thing is up and running it'll be interesting to see how it all dovetails together.
Still using it, as I still think it's the best overall on the Mac for my needs. The only down side is that the last few builds have caused Tumblr to be incredibly slow after a while - Not quite sure what's causing that but have been unable to resolve it by turning off pre-fetching etc. or de-activating all of my extensions. It could well be Flash though, since animated GIFs in the endless scroll seem to contribute to the issue. This most recent version seem to give me far less of the "Flip" error pages, which is a definite improvement. Boomark Sync works relatively well, although the option to reset it using one device as a template would be nice.
NZBV just keeps improving. I asked for Download Auto Complete a couple of weeks ago - Dev was responsive and it is already in the latest release - Can't argue with that. Some of the additional changes in CPU usage etc. are also welcome - I never regret buying this app; hopefully it'll continue to evolve but so far I don't see any dedicated NZB downloaders that are as full featured or can measure up to this one.
Using it now. Full screen browsing (love it) and navigations gestures are back (was sorely missed). Browsing Tumblr seems a bit faster for me (page reload) and it seems fine so far; we'll see, but to me Chrome just keeps getting better.
Two unwelcome (and new, for me at least) issues I have noticed in the last few builds are the emergence of the "Oh Flip" page and also an issue where a page fails to load - Just constantly reports that it is "connecting" to that page. Clearing the cache fixes the latter - Unsure as to what might cause that. Neither of these are enough to make me think of changing to a new browser though....
