Nullriver advertises complete iTunes integration, but cannot (yet) transcode ALAC to WAV. Since all my iTunes music is ALAC, I cannot use MediaLink for music streaming via the PS3. And because many of my home videos also use ALAC audio, these will not play either. So much for iLife integration.
Since there appear to be open source ALAC-WAV transcoders available, and since squeezebox server software on the Mac can transcode ALAC,it seems that it is only a priorities issue that keeps Nullriver from completing the integration task.
I think that truth in advertising should compel Nullriver to advertise 'almost' complete integration with iTunes until they decide to fix this issue. Meanwhile, I will need to continue to use my Logitech Squeezebox Receiver as my audio streamer. And for anyone in the ALAC world considering Nullriver solutions, Apple TV is probably a better bet.
Finally, the only user documentation I could find on Nullriver site is a FAQ that provides little useful information. How much effort would it take to post a one page quick setup guide?
