LightMe
laserdan commented on 04 Apr 2007
After installing on my Core Dual iMac (running 10.4.9)and logging out and in again I find that it does switch my built-in LCD between the dimest and brightest settings, but does NOT turn off the LCD like it may do on a laptop.

The iMac screen has no built-in provision for turning off the back-light, it can only be dimmed. Putting the screen to sleep does turn off the back-light, but LightMe does not do this, and as far as I know, no utility does. Applescript can be made to turn off the back-light, but it takes at least a minute and is just a bit clunky. Anybody want to really try and make this work? I know a bunch of iMac users that would be greatful!

2 stars for trying, but not ready for iMac users.

Works fine except it causes iTunes 7.01 to skip near the beginning of most songs, using an Intel iMac.
