Swacket 1.3 doesn't exist, they released a new app called SwacketX, version 1.3. I suspect it was so they could charge a fee ($2.99) instead of being forced into a free upgrade of the app.
This change to this entry should be reversed and a new entry for SwacketX should be created.
Why the low rating? I don't like upgrades that DISABLE the product. Version 2.2.0 will disable itself if you run it on MacOS 10.6.6 or above. You must redownload the product from the AppStore to run it. I do not like downloading a "upgrade" that disables the product to force me to purchase it again.
That said, the price is fair on the AppStore, but I dislike these sorts of shenanigans.
Prey does not install on a MacBook Pro (32-bit intel). The installer on the "Universal" installer disk doesn't contain the intel binary code necessary to run on my intel-based laptop. I am not sure what the problem is, could it be that the programmer only included 64-bit intel binary code and not 32-bit code?
I have confirmed that in fact the "Prey Installer" binary, when executed from the command line returns
./Prey Installer: Bad CPU type in executable.
I then checked the nature of the binary with the command line "file" command returns:
> file ./Prey Installer
returns
./Prey Installer: Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64
So the installer is 64-bit intel ONLY. This definitely does NOT qualify as a UNIVERSAL installer for MacOS X as it is advertised on their website. It doesn't include PPC or 32-bit Intel code.
The Stapler/Stacker attachment still doesn't work on my HP LaserJet 4200. HP won't even take a bug report for the newly purchased stapler/stacker because it is attached to an out of warrantee printer. Never mind they were perfectly willing to sell me the stapler/stacker for the out of warranty printer, they just didn't explain that there would be no support attached for a printer the stapler/stacker lists as supported.
By the way, it is a driver issue. This stapler/stacker works perfectly fine under WIndows. But on the mac, attempts to print multiple copies of a document each individually stapled results in all the copies being stapled together by a single staple.
I used this widget for quite a long time, but suddenly it has now insisted I have the wrong credentials and never lets me log in. Purging the Keychain, widget preferences, etc. doesn't seem to have helps (neither has updating). Any ideas?
Frankly, I can't say much about Gsync except that it fails on my computer to properly sync with GCal's address book. It's fairly useless to be because it doesn't work. That said, its a good idea and I hope the developer works to improve it so that it in fact works.
The most recent version (0.6.5) crshes on launch under MacOS 10.5.3. I can't address any earlier version of MailUnreadStatusBar, but the current version doesn't even launch.
