Seriously? Could you not even have come up with a slightly more different name? I know it's free and everything but...

CompeGPS Land
Jon_white_bw commented on 13 Jan 2012
Be aware that the text above is the same as for the Windows version of the software and, according to the Compe web site, there is a long and extensive list of features from the Windows version which are not yet implemented in the Mac version. This includes communication with GPS devices, which to me seems to considerably reduce the appeal of the software, at least at this point.

Plus, let's be honest here, at that price it would need to be much, much better than TrailRunner or MyTracks or RouteBuddy. Apart from the 3D projection feature (which is nice but not essential) I don't see anything to justify spending 120 bucks on it when the competition is much cheaper...

ProApps QuickTime Codecs
Jon_white_bw commented on 21 Jun 2011
Note: There's no point d/ling this if you don't have FCPX - it won't install the codecs unless it detects FCPX on your system first.

The App seems to be invalid - I get the 'crossed off' icon on my Mac, which meets the listed minimum requirements. Website is effectively useless.

Call me weird, but I'm not sure I entirely trust a piece of software when the 'developers web site' link leads to a mobile me gallery.

iPlayer+

Doesn't work. Tried to download several shows, failed every time. Beyond that the interface is clunky and over-designed.

So this is the software only version of a product whose main selling point is hardware acceleration? Wow. I really don't see why anyone would pay for this rather than just use HandBrake.

Does anyone have a bluray drive to check if this even works or not?

Has anyone done a comparison between Slnk and Sharetool (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/26850/sharetool)?

iPlayer Downloader
Jon_White_BW had trouble on 19 Dec 2008
Update : I deleted the prefs file (which I hadn't done when I installed V3 originally) and the V3 app, reinstalled the V£ app and went to download one of the 'failed' recordings again. The progress bar started at 94% (?) and continued to 100% and now the download plays correctly. I'll try installing Growl and see if that gives me any more information.

iPlayer Downloader
Jon_White_BW had trouble on 19 Dec 2008
It did show the progress bar and it took a while to download File is about 200MB for an hour long show. I've since tried another iPlayer downloader and got exactly the same results with that and given the message posted later than mine it seems likely the beeb have changed something again.

I don't usually install Growl so I ticked the box to say don't remind me to do so. Is there any way I can reverse that?

Doesn't seem to work at all for me. Seems to download the file correctly, but quicktime player says "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file". Tried a few things, always the same. I have quicktime pro 7.5.5 installed.
