This has actually been out for a few months; I've used it off and on. Dropbox is better integrated on the Mac platform, naturally, but I found Windows Live Mesh to be better at selecting folders to sync. Dropbox only syncs what's been moved into its folder, unless one uses symbolic links which is a lot more advanced.
That said, there are bugs to work out, especially with regard to staying logged in when that's selected. The crashing issues of earlier betas are mostly worked out.
Never had a problem in the past with iPhone updates, but I got an error 14 with this update and had to do a factory restore (not even restoring data from backup as that failed to load with a "file not found" error). This is on an iPhone that has never been jailbroken, using a brand-new MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and permissions recently repaired. Probably a rare/isolated issue but something to take into consideration. Would suggest syncing first, before applying the update, so at least your backup is up-to-date.
First, the good. It does what it claims to do and the cost is reasonable. There are many template choices and the output product looks professional.
That said, the program seems unintuitive. The English is poor in some menus and dialogs. Also, while it can be partially forgiven since it's a cross-platform Java app, the interface is very un-Mac-like. It feels like a poorly-designed Windows app.
In the past I also had issues with registration where each update caused the product to have to be re-registered. This seems to have been resolved.
While the need for Mac antivirus software is minor compared to in the Windows world, I installed NAV 11.0 Universal in order to have one more layer of safeguarding since I receive and pass along many files from Windows PC users, many of which are not tech-savvy. I am not worried about getting viruses on my Mac but appreciate the increased level of PC virus detection in NAV 11.
As far as NAV 11 itself...
it's Universal, it's much faster than NAV 10, and in a day's testing it doesn't seem to have any performance hit on a 2.16 GHz C2D MacBook.
Especially considering Symantec's past history with Mac products, it seems that they've finally put out a decent product with NAV 11. While the need is slim for Mac AV products, NAV 11 seems to be a viable contender.
Granted, I've only used it for a day but in that day there has been 6-8 hours of use involving having multiple Adobe CS3 apps running during a scan and performance has not suffered.
Only negative is that the interface, while greatly improved, is still not entirely "Mac-like" (i.e. absence of Cocoa toolbars). Minor gripe.
Four stars.
