iDocument
The ability to define rules and smart folders is just great.
However, I have to say that I've never been able to sync my documents with my iPod Touch. There's a free iDocument app for iPhone/iPod but it doesn't work. And I'm not the only one having this problem (the company's blog is full of comments saying syncing doesn't work.)
It's really a pity because the desktop app is so good. It would be amazing to be able to sync it with a mobile device. I hope they'll fix this soon.

The UI is the worst ever seen on a Mac. It's space and time consuming. It's all messed up and chaotic.
Each time I use it, I have to try and clic everywhere before finding the feature I want to use. It's the exact opposite of user-friendly.
In terms of features, it has been an improvement (video conference for example), but in terms of usabilty, it's a giant leap backwards.
I hope they'll fix this rapidly. I'm gonna downgrade to 2.8.

I bought it at a discount price in a bundle. It took me some time to get use to it and didn't find an interest in the first place.
But after a while, I realized that iDocument was full of features to be discovered that could actually help me sort my documents.
Now I just can't do without.
If you take some time to browse around the features, set up you custom made rules, tags and smart folders, to add the right incoming folders then this app will quickly become essential to you.
I sort all my work and administrative documents with iDocument. I have set up an incoming folder and a few rules in iDocument : a folder on my desktop acts like a dropfolder. Everything I add there is automaticaly transfered into iDocument, have the right tag and placed in the right smart folder.
If, in addition, you set up the right service with automator, then it becomes the perfect app, and you can send any supported documents from anywhere to iDocument.
I can't wait trying the new iDocument for iPhone that just came out today.
I love this kind of app and I'm happy to support these independent developers.

Even the free version is powerfull enough for a performance with loads of cues, overlapings and stuff (audio, video..).
You can feed it with any file format supported by QuickTime.
It is very stable (installed for me on a MacBook, never had a single problem). It's full of very usefull details but the interface is clear and uncluttered (and customizable). Can be entirely driven through the keyboard through personalized shortcuts.
For more advanced features, the paying version will be needed. But for a small structure, a theater company with limited finances, the free version is more than enough.
And if you go for the paying version, you pay only for the additional modules you actually need (pro audio, pro video or pro midi). You don't pay for tons of features you will never use. And if you have a very small budget, you can even rent those modules for a limited time for $3 a day each ! They also have discount for educational licensing. Intelligent, professional and classy.

The only negative point I would find is the uglyness. The icons are not nice at all.
It's a pity because it's got very nice features and works very well.
The GUI of Process would be a good example to follow (besides this, Process is way too expensive for what it is and iProcrastinate can do 80% of what Process does, for free.)
