aLaunch does exactly what I'm looking for, but it's a pain to use it. Why? It constantly crashes and locks up (version 4.1). Most importantly, I have twenty apps listed and it's using 68mb of memory - this is unacceptable for a menubar launcher, which should use at most 10mb (in my opinion). This memory usage is higher than Dropbox, which is syncing 48gb and over 10,000 files. Also, it shows "Recent Apps" at the top of the menu, even though I've turned "Recent Apps" off (turning it on doesn't enable it either). If these problems were corrected, I'd have no problem giving it five stars.
Works well for tagging and searching with Spotlight - much better than Spotlight comments. Nice interface! I'm glad to see an opensource solution to the tagging problem - hopefully some other devs will pick it up.
However, it would be nice to be able to delete tags that are no longer in use, and it would be great if Tagit could somehow scan and identify similar tags made by other tagging software (Tags comes to mind).
