Thoughts about Parallels 4... Been running Parallels for over an hour now, haven't heard the fans on my MacBook (2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo, Black, 2 GB RAM) spin up once. When I was running Parallels 3 the fans would be running all the time. The option in Parallels 4 for running the VM's with either a single core or dual cores, plus passing the acpi data from the mac hardware to the VM's is a wonderful addition to Parallels (now I can check my battery's charge/discharge rate in the VM's with out having to switch another "space" (feature of 10.5).
Now I start hearing the fans (updating Fedora 9 in Parallels) has triggered the fans to spin up...
Just ran the update version of Xslimmer, it keeps getting better and better with every update. Apps launch much faster (even Turbo CAD v. 3 for the Mac). My hats off to the developer...
I have Parallels 3.0 Build 4560, running on a MacBook 2.0 Ghz w/ 2 GB RAM. Have not had any problems what so ever. Happily running XP, VIsta Business Edition, Fedora 7, SUSE 10, and Ubuntu 7.04. With any of these OS'es, Parallels has not crashed even ONCE. I run maintenance scripts weekly, verify/repair permissions every other week, and update the whatis, and whois databases every month; that has seemed to keep the issues away for me at least.
Wait until Apple has had a chance to release a patch for iTunes 7.3, after install iTunes will NOT launch, even after a permissions repair, running all cron tasks via the Terminal app, and a restart. Hopefully you were smart in keeping the iTunes 7.2 installer package, if not hope to heck that you have iTunes 7.2 backed up somewhere (that was the only thing that saved my butt (I had done a backup BEFORE I installed iTunes 7.3).
When installing iTunes 7.3 disable All Application Enhancers (Put iTunes in Application Enhancer's MASTER Exclude list). Install, launch once or twice to make sure that iTunes launches, then remove iTunes from APE's master exclude list. Shapeshifter somehow is tripping up iTunes installer.
