I read on another forum that a MacBook user, who did not have a mooing MB, applied this update, and then he noticed his fan on all the time. Now his silent MacBook is making noise, noise from the fan constantly spinning. Just a word of warning to those without the moo who like their MacBook as it is -- IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT! I do not think I am going to apply this update because I don't want my fan spinning all the time.
gazman - with the fan running all the time, yes, it should run cooler. But notebooks are designed to handle a little heat, and Apple originally designed the MacBook that way, so is it necessary to run the fan all the time? No. Apple is forced to make the fan all the time as the only solutioin to fix the mooing in certain MacBooks.
The question is, do you want to put up with the noise of the fan running all the time? I work in a silent environment and prefer it to stay that way.
Awesome! Can finally play CNN videos and videos from other websites in Safari using my Intel Mac. Install was simple, painless, and it just works. Plus free is always good.
I have loved Meteorologist over the past couple of years, even with the weather.com changes that have created downtime in the past. ;) Thanks to the developer(s) who have kept this going.
I was looking for an Intel native version and found one here:
I had always downloaded Mac icons other people made to replace my hard disk icon. But now I purchased a MacBook, and the only MacBook icon I found was a little small, so I downloaded IconBuilder to try to make my own MacBook icon using Photoshop Elements. After spending over an hour reading the tutorial and attempting to create my own MacBook icon, I failed.
Then I ran across Easy Bake Icon and IconDroplet, and with those freeware tools, I was able to create my own MacBook icon in a matter of minutes! IconBuilder may be right for others, but for me, the freeware tools were the way to go. It was so fun and easy, I might just make myself a few more icons.
I was looking for a decent MacBook icon to replace the stock hard drive icon on the OS X desktop, but I only found one, and it was small. So after downloading Easy Bake Icon and IconDroplet, and preping Apple's stock photo in Photoshop Elements, I was able to create my own MacBook icon in a matter of minutes. Excellent! Thank you to the developer of this program for making it free.
Beautiful little droplet. I was looking for a decent MacBook icon but couldn't find one. So after downloading Easy Bake Icon and IconDroplet, I was able to take Apple's stock photo of the MacBook and create my own MacBook icon in a matter of minutes. Excellent! Thank you to the developer.
Like the other poster, at first I could not figure out how to use these icons. Apparently one needs "IconDroplet," but the developer failed to include this information in the read me. Also, the icons are very small. I have my desktop icon size set to 48 x 48, and the MacBook icon is tiny in comparison to all other icons. There appears to be too much invisible border around icon. I'm going to look for another MacBook icon.
I've been using RBrowserLite for years with no problems. Great little FTP utility. I just purchased a new MacBook to replace a Mac Mini G4 so thought I download the newer version of RBrowser that is Intel native. Deleted old app/prefs/application support of the Lite Version, but couldn't get v. 4.3.5 of RBrowser to work. I have reinstalled RB Lite on my Mini from my backup, and all is working well just like it used to. Guess I'll just use the lite version under Rosetta emulation for now.
