Mouse Clicker
Homer1 commented on 11 Oct 2011
Haven't tried the software (not sure why I'd want to click the mouse 1000 times per second!) but I'd sure like to know where to download that desktop background.

Great little application for those of us who are bothered by those "little" changes Apple seems to make to our systems without asking. For me, this took care of the annoying "Empty Trash" window animation. Thank you developer for this as well as the great wallpapers available on your web site.

ForeverSave

I've been using this utility for over a year and it has saved my bacon at least twice that I can remember. And the thing is, once you install/configure it, you totally forget that it's running and keeping copies of your work. That is until things go wrong with whatever application you're working in. Then it hit you . . . I have backup copies. You launch the main application and BAM, all versions of your document are there for you to recover. Indispensable and worth twice the shareware price.

Great application, great support!

Downloaded the new beta 2.9.6 and all the icons at the top toolbar changed from color to plain black and white. Just me, or is this going to change back to color icons (OK, I like "pretty") in a later release?

The further that I get into this program the more I like it. Unfortunately, that also means coming up with suggestions that wil add work load for the developer, but hopefully make the program better.

1. How about a "preference" menu that let's us pick the location for our collection files. A lot of us do regular backups of our "Documents" folder, so there would be a good place to store these files.
2. If the above is not possible, how about adding a backup within the program that allows a regular backup of the files rather than a 7z version.
3. The programs "preference" file is loose in the Application Support folder. Why not store it in the 'myVinyl" folder that gets created in the Application Support folder by the program.

I would really not have a problem if the "notes" were on a show/hide button just like the "Separate Album Art." With the added slider this would allow us to re-size the album art in the main window to fit whatever size we have made our main window.

Probably asking a lot, so if it presents other problems, living with the large album art in the main window is not that big an issue. Simply a personal preference. I'm just happy I've found this gem!

As one who is of the "LP Generation" as well as a long time Mac user appreciate the work that has gone into this program. Since retiring I have spent endless hours looking for a Mac application that would help with getting together a database (OK, so far it's only a "listing") of my extensive LP collection without me having to manually enter each and every album/track. To date this is the only offering, and a good one at that.

Suggestions:
1. Allow the user to make the album art smaller so it still fits into the program without having to stretch the window all the way across the screen.
2. Allow the user to pick which fields show up in the listing. I do not care to see the "Country", "Release ID" or "Format." I'm using this for my LP collection only so that field is, for me at least, not useful.

Many thanks to the developer. I will be registering and hope others that use this program will also as we need to encourage/reward developers who write good programs.

Bookit

Homer1 reviewed on 29 Oct 2009
I have been using Bookit for a few years now. Briefly tried Bookdog but found it confusing at best. I'm sure it works well, I just didn't care for the interface.

Due to a HD failure I lost most of my shareware registrations, Bookit included. Earlier this week I sent an email to the developer and yesterday morning in my in-box was a very courteous response with my registration code included. I installed the software under Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and it functions perfectly.

Granted, I only use Safari and Camino as my browsers so the lack of Firefox support does not affect me. Still, given that these are shareware developers, who have outside jobs to actually be able to pay their bills, I think some of the recent reviews/comments of this software are a bit out of line. Just my two cents.

CrashPlan

Homer1 reviewed on 22 Oct 2009
I've been trying out on-line backup programs for months now. Dropbox looked promising but the issues are many, and security (read encryption!) does not exist.

Tried CrashPlan based on the very favorable review in MacWorld and I'll tell you it's perfect. Not only does the program perform, I've had questions that I emailed the support contact about, and received an email response back within 24 hours in all three cases (and I'm not even a "paid" user yet).

I'll be signing up tonight and I recommend that anyone looking for an easy, Mac like, secure on-line backup program give CrashPlan a serious look.

AppDelete

Homer1 reviewed on 11 Oct 2009
I'm a previous user of the older AppDelete who at some point in the past switched over to AppCleaner. I've now been trying out this updated utility (using the “Search” function so as not to actually delete any applications) against AppCleaner and I did find that on the application Bento as well as a few others it (AppDelete) seems to find at least one additional file (seem to be the "cache" files) beyond what AppCleaner finds, which I would think makes for a more complet deletion.

Developer is very responsive to emails and continues to update this application. Works perfectly under Snow Leopard 10.6.1.

Homer1 had trouble on 03 Aug 2010
Tried to import a small (7 albums) Excel export from Discogs just to test out the import function. Program hangs after the first album is imported.
