BE VERY CAREFUL when editing documents you want to retitle.

On OSX Lion the Save As… option is NOT visible and in the Preferences the option to NEVER autosave is either not there, or it ends up as a 0 (if that is an option at all)

Postbox

In trying Postbox yet AGAIN, the remote images come in fine, finally…

But now when I want to SEND or RECEIVE email, I have to change the account settings each time!

Why do developers fix something, then break another?

DELETED (again)

Printopia

Hines2kj reviewed on 09 Jun 2011
Me again!

Well, with this version, it actually worked - on the first try. After the first print, all the printers are gone from the list. Restarted both iPad and Mac - Printopia sees nothing, even though it sees them on the Mac.

Again, it doesn't work…
Stop charging ridiculous sums for something that works a 1/4 of the way…

Media Pro

Trust me on this: If Phase One cannot get this done right and corrected on the first try, they never will. How can a company buy ANYthing from M'soft and think that by giving it a new UI, over horrible M'soft code, that it's going to work well, especially on a Mac.

Phase One just doesn't realize that they could have a winning app here, but I'm sure they're just like M'soft - buy it, change it, don't test it, sell it, make the quick buck, don't update it, don't correct it , be bored of it, shelve it.

Wow! Works perfectly…!

NOT…

Of course, the same ol' story, install app, check all prefs, all prefs are go, go to iPad to print, network is active - doesn't see ANY printers, therefore Printopia doesn't work…

Junked…

Freeway Pro

Hines2kj reviewed on 24 Feb 2011
EXCELLENT software! Very easy to use, beats Rapidweaver with a stick, no a BAT (aluminum), shames iWeb to tears, and Freeway even goes out of its way to be a caretaker to Grandpa GoLive at Web Springs retirement home. As for Dreamweaver (garbageware), Freeway beats this one with the same aluminum bat!

Freeway's methods of doing things does take some steps, but they're logical. I was even surprised that elements could be indicated as layers so as not to cause other elements from moving. This app never crashes, freezes or causes any problems so far. The developer is beautiful and quick in answering questions via email. My company bought this, I can't wait to get this for myself. It's well worth the $$.

RapidWeaver

Hines2kj reviewed on 24 Jan 2011
Bought version 4, tried out version 5 - Except for forms, iWeb beats this one to death. This developer makes site creation so difficult, there's not even a simple way to place in my OWN graphics as a header. No creativity, just use the template (all of which I hate) and to make it worse, they make it practically IMPOSSIBLE to make your OWN theme or template. No where on the Web can I find simple, clear and concise instruction on how to do anything.

It's a shame that the forms function is so good and its presence wasted in R'weaver. Good riddance!

Time Tracker

Hines2kj reviewed on 26 May 2010
Yes, I know it's free and the developer doesn't HAVE to make it perfect, but he/she must have some dignity and pride enough to make it usable to show off coding skills.

TT is so quirky: fields keep switching names one into another, filled data disappears, the "smart" filters do not change info in the other column, among other things. The only way to stop the mess is to quit and start up again - and after a while of use, the quirks start all over again. I'd have to quit/startup at least 10 times a day.

It was bearable before this update, but this latest version forced me to delete it altogether . I'm tired…

Steam
Hines2kj commented on 13 May 2010
Thanks for this!

I finally downloaded Portal (where on the hard drive I'll NEVER know) and not only does my 3-BUTTON MOUSE not work well with Portal, it just does not WORK! And, I can't even move in the first scene!

So, Steam "developers," thanks for nothing, Steam has been deleted from my Mac and all is well again. You just drove me to investigate these wrapper thingies, since all I hear about them is how they WORK.

Shame on you all for this flop version 1.0. It should at least respond to my inputs!

Bye!!

Steam

Hines2kj reviewed on 12 May 2010
Wow, now I find Mac games on Steam - THEY'RE ALL RINKY DINK PUZZLE GAMES that I could get elsewhere!

And to add insult to injury Portal is free, yeah - But when I go to download it - it downloads the Steam app again!

I think that the folks behind this just don't know what they're doing.

Take Steam back to the PC world and leave it there, we don't need this headache…

Please, take it back…

PABLO2K: how is insulting and how am I misinformed if what is supposed to be on Steam for Mac is NOT there, after all the hype that it WAS to be there and available for purchase?

Don't insult US…

Sorry to all for my tirade and "impatience" and frustration. I just hate when a developer says they'll do something and they never deliver and who knows how long we'll have to wait for just HalfLife 1 for Mac.

I've done research and found that these things called "wrappers," though are really emulators, are able to have certain PC games ported to Mac, in just a few hours (that's how I've read it). Is this true?

Yes, I'd rather have Mac-native HalfLife, etc. but, again, don't say one thing and not do it.
