I've been testing Merge for ~3 weeks and I like the program and the functionality.
My issues started yesterday when I upgraded to Lion: when I tried to compare Office or PDF files the files wouldn't load and Merge would display: "No Java runtime present, requesting install (0x80010001)".
I'm not religiously opposed to java or anything but having a native OS X app is a must for me for reasons outside my control... so I looked around... there were some 20MB of jar files berried deep in the Merge bundle!!
Merge was recommended to me by a friend as a truly mac-native comparison app! What gives? Why is it nowhere made clear that Merge requires java, some ~20MB of it, for key chunks of its functionality? Or is there small print somewhere that I've missed?
