This app is growing and growing and growing and growing and growing ..
One would think how to enhance the latest version but every time the dev surprises with another fantastic release.

Unmistakable the best converter for Mac OS X AND with the best support ever.

Though the interface needs a rework it works as advertised.
Also, sometimes it stops downloading the youtube movie for no reason.

If you are in need for a simple converting this the one to go imo
No advanced features though. Results are good to very good.

VidConvert

Greedyfranky reviewed on 01 Feb 2011
It is a bit too thin on features to cope with all the other converters imo. And most comparable apps are even free too.
On top of this, the quality is not very good atm. This needs a big boost in the next version. Also struggles with 5.1 .mov files I tried.
Conclusion:
Not recommended atm

For me there are two converters that stand out:
1) Handbrake is already very good and hard to match.
2) If you need more codecs, bells and whistles, iFFmpeg is clearly the best atm (though not free but very cheap).

Another thing I noticed:
Why are most 5 star ratings of new users with only one review? Very suspicious. ;-)

I use Handbrake quite a lot but it has some flaws like bad badge processing, no stitching, bad control of advanced features, too few codecs and some other quirks.

To be honest, I didn't expected a lot of iffmpeg but I was in for a big surprise. This beta actually is working very well for me. First tests shows that the quality is on par with Handbrake. I only tried to convert to theora, h264 and mkv but there are more to choose from.
I especially liked the merging capabilities. It worked flawless! Something I only came across with the old VisualHUB. Speaking of VH. Yes, there are some VH clones but non are working very good.

I have high hopes on this becoming my new converter! I have send the developer some requests. Finger crossed.

Seriously, once in a while, applications will surprise you. This clearly surprised me!

5 solid stars for this beta. Keep up the good work.

Firefox

Greedyfranky reviewed on 10 Nov 2010
Do I like Firefox? Yes and no. Actually I mostly use Safari and although compatibility is very high there are still sites that doesn't work. So ones in a while I fire up Firefox to visit those sites.
Unfortunately, every time I look at Firefox I think I am working on Windows. And fyi that is no compliment. :) It is soooo ugly. It needs badly a face-over.

Years back it was the best, now it is just merely a necessary for some sites. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is still by far the best tool to keep up with all my passwords.
Has a wonderful interface that is a joy to use.

Highly recommended.

BTW the iPhone app is a bit unnecessary I guess. Does anyone needs this? ;)

uTorrent
Greedyfranky commented on 26 Jan 2010
I agree with HENRIRODAT. This is a very unstable program to use (OS X 10.6.2)
It hangs and crashes on random occasions.
Some years ago I used uTorrent for Windows and never got any issues with it.

Still some work to do I guess.
