i spent 10 hours to find good ffmpeg binary file. I dont know way, but pre-compiled versions just didn't work for me "permission denied".
Then i used MacPorts with this command:
$ sudo port install ffmpeg
And it worked for me
but to say honestly - x264encodecr making better video (quality) then iFFmpeg, and i try many ways to make it better, but no use.
Used MacPorts 1.7.1 and create app:

Tested on Mac mini (Intel, 1,66 Ghz), clean (just installed) Mac OS X 10.5.6
Folder "opt" not needed any more, app is fully transportable
