Works well, glad you did this. Now I wish someone could do the same for the wonderful "Hills" screensaver.

VMware Fusion

Basically no difference between this version and the previous, performance-wise. Vista 64-bit on my 21.5" iMac still has terrible Aero display,, with windows fading in and out in a 3-degree fade process. No other performance differences whatsoever.

Synergy
ggore commented on 24 Jan 2008
I'm not happy with the redesign of Synergy. The old method of Synergy being a preference pane was much simpler, it just loadeded when OS X booted and was in the toolbar when you launched iTunes. Now with Synergy being a regular application, if you set the preferences to launch Synergy at login, it also launches iTunes at login but doesn't bring up the iTunes window. You have to manually bring up the iTunes window and close the application if you aren't wanting to listen to music. I'm going back to the old preference pane version of Synergy.

Not ready for primetime at all. This application crashes when I try to run it on 10.5.1 I've had Synergy on my Mac for years with no problems, but this complete re-write does not work at all.

Videobox
ggore commented on 04 Dec 2007
I get this error message after I installed Videobox:

SIMBL Error
Safari 3.0.4 (v5523.10 has not been tested with the plugin FLVR (null)(v1.0). As a precaution, it has not been loaded

I have the latest version of SIMBL installed, and can not find a previous version of FLVR anywhere on my computer. I'm using 10.5.1. Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry about that, I won't do it again, thanks. FYI, this developer does not respond to crash reports or bug reports relating to any of their software, as I have sent them in the past.

Inquisitor
ggore commented on 26 Nov 2007
The previous comment is correct, Inquisitor does NOT work on Leopard 10.5.1 and on my Mac it has rendered Safari inoperable despite my removing the plugin manually. The Inquisitor installer does not allow removal as it has in the past. Do NOT install this on Leopard!

Fine, it worked for you, but this can't be a fluke. I installed this new version today on two machines, one G4 Powerbook at work and on my Intel iMac at home, both running Leopard 10.5.1. On both machines Safari crashes to a spinning beach ball 5 seconds after bringing up bookmarks, clicking a link in the bookmarks toolbar, clickint to enter text in the address bar, anything. Removing the Inquisitor plugin does not restore functionality. Safari is now dead on both these machines. I even tried installing the 10.5.1 combo update to fix the problem, no dice.

I have no other hacks or plugins installed into Safari.

The latest version of SIMBL was installed. I got Safari working by deleting the entire contents of the Input Managers folder on both machines. Then I deleted the related folders in /Library/Application Support, which was nothing but SIMBL and Inquisitor. Safari wouldn't work until those files were deleted as well. I then reinstalled the latest version of SIMBL and Inquisitor, which again caused Safari to crash. So I've deleted the contents of the Input Manager folders again and now have a working Safari. I'll just have to do without Inquisitor. From reading other posts here this seems to be a common problem with Inquisitor, it works on some machines and does not on others. Thanks for the help and ideas guys.

Crashes after 10 seconds every time I open it on my G4 Powerbook. Works fine on Inte.

Portable Adium

It won't let me copy the folder to my USB thumbdrive, says "one or more items can't be copied". Maybe not quite ready for primetime.

No, it isn't. I have Portable Firefox on the thumb drive already and it works just fine. I didn't know the drive had to be formatted with HFS. If it does I will pass, as I use this drive back & forth between Windows machines and my Mac at work/home.

You were right, after checking the writer's site I formatted the drive to HFS+ and it installed. Thanks.
