@Negritude: thanks for the info. However, a sequence analysis program that in the free version does not even allow editing sequences (let alone sequence alignments and annotations), or the search for ORFs, or primer design, is hardly useful. I recommend "SerialCloner" which does a good job in my lab, and is really free.
Paid instead of free would be acceptable - as the price is reasonable. What I will not accept is the transition to an menu-bar app. My screen real estate is already over-populated, and I don't want another icon there. The good thing about Growl was that it did its job in the background, without requiring lots of resources.
I'll stay with the previous version for as long as possible, and then wave farewell to Growl unless things change to the better again.
great program, giving clearly the best HDR results of any software for Mac that I have tested (including Photoshop, Hydra, Bracketeer). There are a few things that could clearly improve the program, but judged by the results it is already best in class, both regarding image alignment and HDR creation. The developer is also very responsive, and is grateful for suggestions and bug reports.
just in case potential new users see this "update": avoid SAFT, even if you heard it was good. It really WAS good a couple of years ago, but an arrogant and non-responsive developer who wants to charge for every small update does not deserve to be supported.
"With Rightsizer, you can zoom text in specific parts of a web page, without affecting text in other parts."
would be great to have! However, I got this:
"Notes
When you change the size of some text, all other similar text elements on the page will be affected the same way. For example, if you enlarge a paragraph in the middle of a news article, all other similar paragraphs in the article will be enlarged as well."
So, practically speaking, the extension does not do its job properly. Nice to have the possibility to change the text appearance, but it is not nearly as useful as it would be, could it actually do what it promises to do.
Yes, this is exactly what I want - and what the description of your extension say it would do. This is why I'd like to have it:
In my work, I often need to read texts consisting of many paragraphs, and it occurs frequently that I am being disturbed, e.g. by a phone call, colleagues dropping in and asking me something, or simply by other work I do in parallel. Or imagine people with small kids ;)
Long story short I need to "keep track" of where in the text I am. Right now I use the mouse/trackpad to select the current paragraph or sentence. However, being able to zoom into this text would enhance my "tracking", and at the same time make the text easier to read. Zooming into "all similar text elements" just doesn't do the job for me.
unfortunately the new version still modifies the whole element, not only the selected text... But it is a clear step forward to be able to restrict the modification to a single element.
I've been using Mozy for over a year, and it was generally working very well. My subscription is good for another years, but I will certainly not extend it now after the new prices came out. In my case, I backup a modest 160GB, and the new price would be more than three times higher than now.
One other thing I noticed a few days ago, and which I suspect to have happened "on purpose": I got an error that a required file was missing, and after Mozy resumed it showed me that it had to upload many GB of Data. I was suspicious, looked into what happened, and saw that the backup set now EXcluded my folders with photos and videos. Which for me was around 100GB of important information that was now EXcluded from backup. Basically exactly the data why I have bought an online backup solution.
I have heard that at least one other person had exactly the same "problem". So, guys, check your backup sets in the Mozy home program, and manually INclude your important data again.
What's nice as an app for 1.99 on the iPhone, is not nice for 19$ on the Mac. WAY TOO overpriced for what it can do. The effects are good, but very very limited. For 2$ I'd buy it, maybe, for quick editing of images to be emailed.
