Yes, it should be free. However, there is some law which Apple is abiding by that requires them to charge "something" for the new capability being added to already sold hardware.

Alarm Clock

My only problem with this program (and I do mean, only problem), is that if something is wrong in itunes... if a song is not authorized on my computer, for instance... the alarm will not wake you. I have switched to another program that will play a default alarm sound if itunes doesn't play. This is a feature I need.
