Check for updates using the Mac menu bar icon or the menu pulldown in an app window never works...I have to "run" the app from Applications....any ideas why?
It would be nice since there's two paths for Chrome, stable and dev, that you could put "(stable)" or "(dev)" in the title. I get all excited when I see a new release only to be disappointed when it doesn't apply to my "stable" install.
Installed this latest version (was running (I think) 0.9.6 previously)...hosed various items. iTunes (library stored on NAS) wouldn't open. Icon would bounce, nothing showed on screen - force quit and it would say iTunes not responding. Bootcamp volume appeared on OS X desktop - never did before. Firefox wouldn't close properly. Rebooted twice with no change. Finally restored from time machine backup to previous version and everything's back to normal.
Check for updates within the pref pane never works....always says "An error occurred in retrieving update information. Please try again later." This has been true for as far back as I can remember.
How come when I use the menu in an app (like Chrome) and say "check for updates" it doesn't do anything? I have to go into applications and run the app (even though it's already running) before it'll actually check.
Manually checking for updates has never worked for me...keeps saying "an error occurred in retrieving update information. Please try again later." I have to always download and reinstall the new version manually.
