Why does Transmission tries to connect www.ietf.org/mail.ietf.org on initial launch? What data is transferred?

What makes this GUI for ffmpeg better than the already since many years existing ffmpegX from major? ffmpegX is serving reliably since many years..

In comparison to the classic icq and many other icq clients, Adium X is nice with one exeption: Filetransfers often don't work. It's 9 out of 10 times when Adium fails but other clients work.

Still many missing features..since it's not easily possible to block internet access easily in a networked home-directory enviroment for the lecturer, this functionality should be avaible in Remote Desktop.
