Look, guys (or Marie). Some of us need to use an app with this functionality. If you can't make it work with Lion and Safari 5.1, please JUST TELL US so we can move on. If you're close to a solution, that would be welcome news. You have a loyal customer base waiting to hear something, anything.
Early this year I paid for the upgrade to v.2. This was based on their trumpeting BusyCal integration. On March 18, I notified them that this was not working unless iCal was open. Three days later I got a reply, "Hi Don.
I've just found out there is a known (now) bug regarding the recent build and BusyCalc {SIC}. We're working hard to fix it right now."
On April 18, another reply, "There is one in the works, I don't have an ETA on its release yet."
Soon I realized that this was due to Apple's switch to CalDAV, meaning iCal has to be open to sync with BusyCal. On June 18 I asked for a refund of the upgrade price based on the above and the fact that BusyCal support is STILL prominently displayed on the site (any calendaring app will have to have iCal open) and that based on the promise of a fix I have been waiting for 2 months for a fix.
The response was that they are unable to process a refund 60 days after purchase, as they use Fastspring. If they hadn't told me there was a known bug (which there really isn't) and promised to fix it, I would have been able to get a refund at that time. It's not the lousy $15 or whatever I spent. It's the fact that Second Gear was not truthful in their Emails or on their website and strung me along until it was too late.
I'm a teacher and have been using my ScanSnap S1500M to convert a lot of my resource and workbooks to PDF files. Beats running to the copier. Cumulatively, my school folder does grow pretty large.
I put this app to work yesterday with great results. For example, I took a 65 page book on writing with lots of graphics and obviously text, which was 37.9 MB. Ran it through PDFCompress and the result was 11.1 MB. Multiplied by the number of these PDF files I have, there will be a huge savings in disk space. Putting the original and the result side by side, the only loss in quality was a very slight amount of contrast and a tiny loss of crispness of text-very slight and acceptable for virtually any PDF I have, and would have been unnoticeable had I not compared out of curiosity. Excellent program.
I wrote a comment below about wanting to know where all of the features they listed can be found. I'll say from the outset that I'm a version 1 user and may switch when Behind the Rabbit gets their Graphite design fixed so my photo appears in the banner as it used to. This is strictly a comment about Karelia and their marketing and support (lack thereof).
As a 1.x user I got the Email about the upgrade with a new features graphic (made with wordle.net-not impressive). One of the features said customizable slideshows. Thought this must be explained somewhere??? Watched their video-all 7 parts. No mention of slideshows. Must be in their "How Do I...? " section. Searched thoroughly and no mention at all. Fine. I'll figure it out on my own, not that I should have to. After about 45 minutes of exploring my photo galleries (it's a commercial photography site in the making) and going from tab to tab in the Inspector, I finally stumbled upon a slideshow setting. I'm assuming it will work, although I don't want to publish another site with the design that isn't updated or didn't make the transition.
My point is that Karelia has made a huge deal out of their improvements and has neither listed all of these nor provided support for all of them. Also, a search of the developers who make themes for them show their tremendous frustration at having to rewrite virtually everything. Karelia couldn't have given them some lead time for this? If iWeb dies, I may have to start over with Freeway Express or RapidWeaver.
11 new features are listed here. I'd like to know something about the other 4 dozen+. Unlike most new releases and developer sites, there is no version history or listing of all the new features Sandvox may have to offer.
I do a lot of conversions to different formats and, like many, was a Visual Hub junkie. This is a great piece of software with every option I could imagine needing. I particularly love the ability to point to my TiVo Transfers folder and create a video I can pull up on any of my TiVos.
Had an odd problem initially, and the developer responded within minutes. There is such a difference in support from one piece of software to another and I haven't experienced any better than this.
This is a terrific piece of software that has really improved my mail efficiency. Between work and home (and 4 mail accounts) I do a lot of processing and filing. Previous to this I was using MsgFiler, which isn't bad. The difference is the intelligence built into MailHub and how it learns where messages with certain criteria should be filed. Tons of keyboard shortcuts, so I never have to lift the mouse.
I would also like to tout the developer support. When I first installed it, there was a problem with the Mail window resizing on my 30" ACD. I got an immediate reply and within a couple of days a new release came out that fixed the issue. We should all support this type of developer!
While some think the program is a bit pricey, my calendar is so important to my work that I gladly ponied up the money for a dual license, so I could share a calendar with my wife.
I also think we need to keep in mind that price isn't the only factor in buying software. I read the reviews here whenever I'm contemplating a purchase. Poor support will drive me away faster than price.
I recently ran into a sync problem with BusyCal. I sent an Email for support, which was answered almost instantly. John at BC kept following up with further steps to solve the problem (which wasn't entirely BusyCal's doing). He had me send in logs and analyzed them, gave advice on removing files, etc. I'm no novice on the Mac and I can tell you that the tech support is extremely knowledgable and very, very fast! Having had the opposite experience with some developers, this kind of support is part of the price we pay for programs from quality developers, and I, for one, am ready to encourage that with my money.
Follow the link to equinux. Good news and bad news. Good news is, it's not $39.95, an outrageous price. Bad news - it's $49.95. Do they sell this to anyone? Fifty bucks to fill in missing album artwork? I'm far from a cheapskate with software, but that price is insane.
Thanks. I reinstalled 2.2 and most things work fine in Leopard, except... When I choose Elite Keyboard>Configure... Device Manager shows up as a partially drawn window with only a few keys showing, none of whom respond to a mouse click. At least most of my previous keys (the extra ones) work as before. Guess I'll have to live with not being able to remap any of them.
Another strange thing - when I activate F-Lock to use the Function keys in their normal Apple configuration, F12 won't open the optical drive anymore. It will if I deactivate F-Lock to use the Logitech specified keys. Go figure!

Does anyone know how/where to find an older version, such as 2.2.2?
