A versatile, modern, 64-bit, Mac OS backup app. I use it to create boot-able clones of my startup disk; SmartBackup does its thing every night without any problems.
I like Mou, a lot. It's a modern 64 bit Markdown app with a single window design, featuring very impressive syntax highlighting and live preview. Keyboard actions make easy Markdown writing even easier. Responsive author.
Unattractive website with Windows screen shots, crappy icon and editable preference files rather than the usual Mac GUI, BUT it's FAST and very impressive. I've deleted BBEdit and TextMate. First, I added my favourite TextMate theme and then I started playing with Sublime Text in conjunction with both TextSoap and the Marked app. Huge potential, if Mac developers get behind it. Developer is very responsive. Unlimited demo. Don't be dissuaded by initial appearances.
A new 64 bit text editor already featuring Lion's Resume, Auto Save and Versions. That plus line numbering, syntax colouring, snippets, regular expressions and commands for $5. Bluntly, I'm dismayed that anyone would have the nerve to complain about such a bargain. I'm delighted to see that Peter Borg has finally decided to charge something for his hard work and I'm very grateful that he has been so generous.
In early January 2011, Pixelmator made an interesting marketing move. They reduced the price of Pixelmator 1.x to $29.99 and offered a free upgrade to version 2 when it becomes available. I suspect Pixelmator's goal was to drive both upgrades and new sales to the Mac App Store. My understanding is that they had sales of $1,000,000 in the first 20 days.
Martin, I suggest you to consider offering Amadeus Pro version 2 for $19.99. I've been put off by your current $39.99 upgrade offer, but I would jump at a limited time offer of $19.99 at the Mac App Store.
Clearly, your sales would be less than $1,000,000, but I suspect you would generate far more cash than you are at present.
Espiridion, I understand, but I'm betting the Mac App Store will be VERY widely adopted and that every day that passes there will be fewer and fewer folks avoiding it.
> I would ask, why are you (and others like myself) put off by the $39 upgrade?
I'm put off because I feel Martin has chosen to overcharge folks who have supported his software for years. Besides, I already own Bias Peak Pro 6 (currently not installed), audiofile engineering's waveeditor, Sound Studio 4, WireTap Studio, Audio Hijack Pro (not installed) and Fission (not installed). My sound recording and editing needs are very simple.
BTW, here's another example of a 'Pixelmator like' offer: DVDRemaster at a 90% discount this weekend only ($49.99 ==> $4.99)
My dilema, upgrade to Scrivener 2 or buy Storyist? I've owned Scrivener for three and a half years, but after briefly testing Scrivener 2, I decided to purchase Storyist. Why?
Storyist: I liked the icon, the program name, the website, the manual, the videos, hey, I even liked the developer's voice, but the preceding list certainly wasn't why I purchased Storyist. Sure, it's a cocoa app, and 64 bit, but frankly, both programs are carefully crafted and share remarkably similar features. I purchased Storyist because of the almost inexplicable joy that you experience when you sit down and use very thoughtfully engineered software. Bluntly, using Storyist pushed my 'happy' button. It's cliché to call software elegant, but Storyist is ELEGANT. If you have a story to tell...
The internal hard drive on my Mac crashed. After purchasing a new Mac, and restoring my apps with Apple's Migration Assistant, WhoPaste not only required reentry of my registation information, it then reported, "The registration did NOT succeed because there are 1 users already registered." That one user is, of course, ME.
Dozens of Mac apps are working again, exactly as expected, WhoPaste is the only exception. I've attempted to reach Mac-Chi, the developer of WhoPaste, by contact form and email. Thus far, I've had no response.
The developer never responded. Both the activation scheme and app support receive a failing grade. I 've deleted WhoPaste and will no longer recommend this app. FYI, MacScan uses a similar activation scheme, but they responded positively to my email within hours and incremented my allowed activations.
Be forewarned, Flow does not support FTP-TLS/SSL and developer responds "no plans to implement it any time in the near future unless demand increases sharply."
If your host requires FTP-TLS/SSL choose Captain FTP, Cyberduck, Fetch, ForkLift, Interarchy, Transmit, YummyFTP or another client that supports the protocol.
ICDsoft is an example of a host that supports FTP-TLS/SSL and not SFTP
FYI, the developer also took several days to respond.

Problem: A ridiculous licensing scheme and reprehensible support.
