Mellel is now my best friend when writing papers. It may not have all the features of Word, but it does have all the features ever needed in light academic writing. (I use LaTeX for heaving writing.) It's very easy to use. It's text rendering is gorgeous compared to Word and let's not even talk about AppleWorks. Mellel has never crashed for me-EVER! And at only $35 for the academic license (I paid $29, since I was a registered user before the upgrade) you can't go wrong!

My free version automatically updated itself to a newer version which requires a license!
Hello! You can't do that unless you make it VERY clear that by clicking the update button you lose your previous full version.
It's low enough charging for previously free software. Automatically installing over it is even worse.

You're past due for a nice GUI polishing.

Microsoft Messenger
Skype, AIM, and Yahoo! all offer video conferencing on the Mac and MS Messenger doesn't come even close to offering that functionality.
Even sending simple text messages seems clunky.
Feels like a Windows port.

I keep hoping for an interface facelift, though.

With all the other updates coming out?
I'm impressed.

I can open, crop, and scale an image in GraphicConverter before Photoshop is even open.
While the interface is not cocoalicious, it's decent. And very workable.
