Have used this for ages and they have kept updating this software ever since. Can not remember when I last paid for an upgrade ( I suppose 3.0 might change this ; ) ). Easy to use and quick. Use it for DVD´s, streaming (recording streams via browser) - so far if there is a program that emits sound it will record it. Easy to get to grips with and lot of settings that makes it a joy to use.
Have recorded music from music videos etc.
Works for me- I can purchase software on the fly it is easy to use, you have backup function ... what is it NOT to like. Do not like it ? Do not use it. Steam and others function in this way and personally I appreciate it
"Great idea, but unfortunately that may not be an option in the future if I want to try out a program first and it's only offered on AAS."
? Not sure I understand you mean that with the Apple store existing you can not try out the program ? Something you can do now ? Like a demo from the vendor ? There is a link to developer from store...
This review just in balance of the confusing comments sofar: personally there was NO problems with upgrade (as always) and no lost information etc. I have about 26.000 items big library and speed is no problem. Not sure what issues others have but it is NOT standard for this upgrade
One of those Shareware programs that I love: good price, lots of features (enough for me at least ; ), good value for money (=lot of "free" updates) and essentially what a good Mac program is all about = easy to use.
I use this for all kind of small and quick music edits, everything from recording splits to batch conversions.
Any wishes ? Well I think Apple should implement it to iTunes as a feature ; )
Had the pre 3.0 version loved it and when it stopped working thought I upgrade but no ...my bought license did not work for an upgrade on their website. So a mail to creators got me an answer "I had to upgrade through whoever you bought it from". Now correct me if I am wrong but you would think a software license is a software license but in this case no. Although a lovely screensaver I have gone of this way of handling customers. Just using a simple free one now (red pill - Matrix influenced. Shame though
well it´s simplistic I know but it can handle quite a few DVD´s I have thrown at it ...so full respect . Have used Handbrake and MTR (ahh my classic ; ) ) but they have their own quirky behavior and lets face it Ripit is basic indeed but that is in my opinion not bad thing.
Only odd behavior would be the "complete" package file it creates...but in the those instances I need to split those files I use Handbrake.
MTR hasn´t (officially) bee upgraded for a long time so right here right now I really enjoy the simplicity of Ripit (AND the constant updates19

Having installed the latest Safari 4 beta (very nice and am so far very impressed by the speed increase) I also updated to the latest Flash - and yes - it works very well (as it has always done for me in the past) and so far it also seems to increase the "overall snappiness" of Safari 4.
