It looks beautiful, but without a trial, I'll pass. Throwing $5 on something I may never use isn't how I roll. A shame when devs don't put out trials. And I'm already missing the days of shareware (which the MAS does not seem to work well with).
It does. Sexy as hell; color me impressed. No problems there. Just want to make sure the usability and functionality is there too. Too many Twitter clients phone it in when it comes to those two departments.
Just another bunch of scam artists that give out free copies of their software in exchange for 5-star ratings. Not really that hard to figure it out. Why MacRumors doesn't do anything about this is beyond me. Maybe they get a kickback? Maybe they don't care about cheesy bunko artists abusing the system? Who knows...
Onyx can do everything this can and more... and it's actually stable and reliable. Donate to the developers of Onyx if you want to spend money on such a tool.

You can interpret "request comments or testimonials" however you like (I tend to see an exchange going on: you get a free license, but leave a good review). I also encourage you to look at all the 5-star reviews. 99% of them use broken English (the developers are Ukrainian) and are from members who have no prior history of posting on this board. Moreover, these allegedly fraudulent reviews have all been down voted by members of the MU community (so clearly I'm not the only one noticing a trend).
If that's not enough to raise alarm bells, then I guess you are using "investigate" in much looser terms. There won't be a big neon sign that reads "we are bilking the MU comment/rating system to increase revenue; yes we are total scam artists" I'm afraid.
After downloading a ".zip" file, use the operating system or a utility such as WinZip or PKZIP to access the file's contents.

I'm not sure what's going on, but it appears in the MAS for $1.99. However, their website (http://www.splayer.org/index.en.html) lists it as being open source (See the comparison chart). Clicking the download button downloads a Windows executable. There's also a large donate button at the top of their website.
I'm not really sure what I'm paying for here. So far, however, alarm bells are ringing.
Extremely slick and wonderful little app. A deep price point, but that aside, it is nicely done. A few niggles:
1) It doesn't currently attribute itself to rars that end in 01, 02, 03, etc. Hopefully this can be added in a future release as it makes decompressing multiple rars that contain this old file naming scheme a bit inelegant.
2) Changing the toolbar isn't preserved between closing and relaunch.
All in all, I really like the implementation (and the standalone unpacking window rocks), but would love to see a little more polish for the hefty price tag :)
Awesome! Thanks guys. Can't wait for the update. It has currently replaced Unarchiver and with such wonderful and receptive customer service (as well as new icons coming), I'm sure it'll just get better and better!
A hefty price tag, but so far, I think it's worth it. As I said, the unpacking window is superb (as is its feature set) :)
Everything this app does, The Unarchiver can do, for free. So, you know, it's your call if you want to throw $2 down the toilet, or if you must part with it, give it to a worthwhile charity. I hear there are starving people all across this planet.
Thanks for the feedback Marc. I prefer your plugin's interface and controls over YouTube5 (which too actually didn't work for Facebook).
If I had to live without video on FB or install Flash, I would choose the former every single time. I'll wait for Facebook to wise up rather than acquiesce.
Thank you for supplying a direct link to the trial. FileMaker requires registration to download. There privacy policy clearly states:
"At times FileMaker may make certain personal information available to strategic partners that work with FileMaker to provide products and services, or that help FileMaker market to customers."
NO THANKS! Last thing I need is more marketing junk mail and my personal information being sold to marketing firms. And just to use a trial? Smarmy... real smarmy...
New version (r14) is unusable on Intel Core Duo. Video plays for a second and then freezes, while the audio continues to play, even on SD content. r13 plays them just fine.
This occurs using both the MT and standard mplayer binaries. Log file does not indicate anything erroneous. A shame...
