I think this is a nice update (especially while running Tiger on a G4). From a performance standpoint this new version seems significantly faster. Especially when starting some new activity. Download of daily updates and starting new scan happen very quickly as opposed the older version that had a significant delay (many time more than a minute).
The interface is more "mac" like, much nicer eye candy.
So far seem stable.
Resource hogging appears to be better with this version, still not very good but definitely moving in the right direction.
Please take note, RPP is not completely a freeware product anymore. It REQUIRES an unlock code to access all of its feature, and this code can be obtained for a fee. So that makes it shareware, or crippleware. While the fee is reasonable, and RPP is useful, even in it crippled mode, it is not rationale for the author to promote it as "free".
Tried it again, in general even worse than before. A few things are better (doesn't lock up the machine any more), in general is lot that is the same (sucks up resources unnecessarily, bloated code, slower than needed, etc.) and a few things that are a much worse (more crippleware-like in order to push the "pro version", more of a microsoft mentality - "we know what you want better than you know")
As a graphics viewer, Xee is just one among a large field. Where is really excels as a Comic Book reader/viewer. One of the best way to view .cbr and .cbz achieves that are used to digitize comic books. Minimal memory footprint, simple controls, fast, etc. And the price is right. Nice to have a view that does not require achieves to be open and close using another program.
Very typical open source software. Don't even try if you are not comfortable with python. Very powerful but highly user unfriendly, resource hog, does not play well with other software, slow except on a newer machine (lots processors & memory)etc..
Uses a web browser as the GUI, nice idea, mediocre implementation.
But for the price (free) you can't complain to much.

Well at least it was python instead of perl.
