calibre does not play well with Growl 1.3 for Lion. If I want to convert a document to another format, I get a request to locate GrowlHelper.app, which does not exist in Growl 1.3. There is no escape from that dialog except to quit calibre.
My workaround: I installed calibre under Ubuntu/VirtualBox and I got my conversion(s) to work fine.
This is probably the least stable application I use under Lion. Lots of crashes and scrolling just doesn't work right at all. I can't dump it though. It's just too useful.
if "NEW: EasyFind adapted to the requirements of the Mac App Store" means what I think it means, then this application has lost its main advantage over Spotlight, namely the ability to search the ENTIRE filesystem. The App Store doesn't approve apps that do things only root has permissions for.
It looks like this version is showing its age. It seems to no longer work in Snow Leopard, at least version 10.6.6. I hadn't need to use it for a long time, but today I needed it, and it just beachballed at me. Reinstalling was no help. Too bad.
When I try to convert video files to MPG for a DVD, Burn 2.5 consistently throws an unknown error at me. Time to dig into Time machine for the previous version. It never gave me any trouble. (Early 2006 iMac running Snow Leopard)
This version still repeatedly crashes the Plaxo Assistant background process on my mid-2009 MacBook. Plaxo denies there is a problem. I can't find anyplace to upload my growing list of crash reports. I'm about ready to stop trying to get this POS to work.
STILL not 64-bit compatible? I just tried this version on my mid-2009 MacBook running Snow Leopard. It never syncs anything because one of Plaxo's background processes crashes.
This version claims to be compatible with Snow Leopard in both 32 and 64 bit mode. After several uninstalls/reinstalls I have been unable to get anything but crashes of background processes on my mid-2009 MacBook.
Under Snow Leopard this version of Monolingual does something to its preferences file that causes the application to crash after a number of runs. deleting net.sourceforge.Monolingual.plist and then resetting personal preferences fixes things for awhile, until next time. I just tried locking the preferences to see if I get better mileage. Time will tell.
WARNING: Be sure to have a good system backup before installing version 2.2.1. YMMV, but it rendered my Early 2006 iMac unbootable. Thank the gods for Time Machine!
This version has a major problem! Under Leopard, it is impossible to return to the front side of the widget from the preferences side. I guess I'll have to take a trip in my Time Machine to find the previous version.
