Saft

chmorley reviewed on 06 Sep 2009
I have been a fan of Saft for some time now, having paid for it twice. I will not pay a third time for a minor update. I understand the developer did new work to get this to function with Snow Leopard. New users of the product may find it worth the fee. I, however, will not pay for an update that provides functionality delivered elsewhere for free.

I am looking forward to getting away from the cumbersome upgrade process, as well.

PTHPasteboard Pro

Wow. I have been a fan of this software for years--hacking it to work when it didn't, lamenting its disappearance when it went away, and excitedly welcoming its return when its developer promised to keep a free version.

Then I get a notification that an update is available. It updates me to the *paid* version of the app. That's sneaky. It's deceptive. It's bad business practice.

If the developer wants to discontinue the free version, so be it. But don't pull the sneaky update thing.

Frankly, the product is no better than ten others out there. My needs were minimal, so I liked the free version of this. I will certainly never purchase a product from this developer. Once you see someone is dishonest in their practices, the business relationship is soured.
