Might just be me, but I immediately had issues with CenterImages 5.0: first, the toolbar appeared (despite being unchecked in prefs) and wouldn't go away until I check and then UNchecked the "show toolbar" command; next, it totally blocked images on an iTunes preview page. At that point I just turned it off.
It's certainly possible that it's conflicting with my adblocker or something, resulting in blank pages, but turning it off entirely IMMEDIATELY fixed the issues.
Let me make this simple for some of you that appear to be confused:
Downloading copyrighted files OF ANY KIND without the owner's permission and without payment IS ILLEGAL. Period. End of story.
If you want to buy music and other media legally, there's plenty of options and plenty of price points. Sometimes, bands and others deliberately make their songs available as downloads for free, but they do this themselves, on their web site, not on places like RapidShare and MediaFire. The files on those sites are not legal.
Use of this program exposes you to potential RIAA/MPAA lawsuits. While the risk is probably low, the cost for you unlucky ones will be in the thousands, and that's even if you are completely innocent. Is it worth the risk? That's a question only you can decide. I'm just giving you the facts.
At the risk of sounding ungrateful, I'd really appreciate it if we didn't have to wait over a year for a fully-Lion-compatible version of this wonderful tool this time. Thank you.
If you're willing to put in the URLs, yourself, you can use various utilities like FStream to get your favourites for free. I admit that most of the good pre-programmed radio apps (RadioShift, Radium, Snowtape et al) cost about the same as this one, but if you're tastes aren't wildly diverse, you could probably save a lot of money by sticking to the free tuners.
This software has been a workhorse for me. There may be prettier, maybe even slicker YouTube downloaders out there, and I often wish it worked with other sites besides just YouTube, but -- it's free, it does what it says it will do, and has been an incredibly reliable tool.
Many thanks to the developer for their effort and generosity.
I think Amadeus Pro is a great program, but I'm not going to upgrade to v2 because I think the upgrade price is too high for the tiny amount of "new" features (which are really just improvements on existing features).
Is Amadeus Pro worth $60 as a purchase? I would absolutely say yes.
Is it worth at least $120 to me (since I paid $40 last time, am being asked to pay $40 for v2, and will likely be asked to pay again for v3)? Nope. Not without some serious NEW features that I would find useful.
Existing customers should have gotten a better upgrade deal, Martin. I plan to stick with my current version until it stops working, then re-evaluate if I want to continue with Amadeus or see what else is out there. This is NOT the position you should have put your existing supporters in.
In the meantime, I'm no longer recommending Amadeus Pro until we get some clear clarification if minor upgrades like this are going to be charged again and again at (IMO) unfair rates for existing customers.
