At this time the version 1.1 listet here on MacUpdate still seem to be the unofficial fork, not Buzz Andersen's original. The official (and AFAIK working) Cocoalicious is version 1.0b45, see here:
Fast (noticeable faster startup than info.xhead, even on a 2.4 Mhz Core Duo 2 MacBook with 4 GB RAM), unobtrusive, gets the job done, doesn't force you to use categories (Big plus!!), doesn't rely on wonky, not officially supported (by Apple) Input Managers.
For those who don't have an iPhone or iPod Touch, Syncman seems to be a more than viable alternative to Apple's built-in synchronization. It just works (which IMHO is all one can ask for). It even seems to be better at coping with company-type contacts.
The ability to sync just a certain Address Book group or just e-mail contacs would be nice, though. My Apple Address Book contains quite a number of contacts without e-mail addresses and I don't really need those in Gmail …
If only Alsoft didn't insist on shipping a physical CD, I'd have already bought the update from version 3. But that's really an awfully backward concept. Also international shipping prices are insane and it takes too long.
I could by of 4.0 in stores here in Germany, but only the full version, not the upgrade.
I'm seriously considering to by Drive Genius instead. They seem to offer a downloadable DVD image ...!
It didn't crash again since. Also there doesn't seem to be an API for syncing back tags, so it's unfair to blame this on iP2F … (Leaves the window height as main point of critique …)

Minor gripes:
1) While iP2F can sync back title and comment changes back to iPhoto, it doesn't do this for tags. (Why not …??)
2) The window is too high for iBook and 12" PowerBook users!
3) Possibly led to an iPhoto (6) crash once.
