Okay, obviously there are fake reviews but still this is an excellent program for tweaking images that have too much contrast, when there is no more detail in shades an lights. When I use it I just prepare three pictures from a raw file in tiff, one with correct metering one underexposed and one overexposed, then the program mixes them for me and I just push the slider to where I want. Personally, I still want the result look like a photo, but if you push further you can obtain something as hyperrealistic as Dali's dreams.

Amaya really looks good on paper: browser, WYSIWYG editor, new technologies and for free. But when you download the Mac OSX version you can experience the flaws of this application very quickly : it is absolutely not optimized for Mac. On a Power PC G5 you must wait 32 seconds until you can start working with it ! I think it's world record for an application like this, if you compare it to Seamonkey for instance that is also a browser and WYSIWYG editor that launches in four seconds ! What a shame for Amaya !

I agree with other comments on this page. PAW2U is an incredible program for genealogy and it is free. I use it actually to understand the relationship in my wife's family were families and kids are numerous. As they all have those long tahitian names, it is great that the software always asks me to check the spelling. I could even establish the relationship correctly when descent or pedigree are confusing because men and women in Tahiti have often more than one partner in their lives. There is also a lot of child adoption. I tried other programs on the Mac before and I agree that this one is the easiest to use and the best also for its perfect respect of GEDCOM files, so you can exchange and compare your research with others over the internet and even on different platforms. Thanks to the developer for this great piece of software ! I also love the retro style of the interface it's so simple and well made !

I just tried to download this for my wife who is a nurse. I had 145 of 157 Mo when it stopped. I had a look to find out why and the link led me to a "Mobile Me" error page saying : "This page is temporarily unavailable. The data transfer limit has been exceeded due to high traffic. If you own this page, go to Account Settings and click Details to learn more." Now that's nice to see how Apple hinders people who are distributing free software for the Macintosh ! It was already quite ironic to observe a lot of developers leaving the platform for the iPhone in order to get cash from the AppStore and abandon great software like "Create" for example, but this here is the top. Well done Apple, we love you !
