-delete preferences
-open MPlayer
-all OK
-'check for updates' is not selected in preferences
-close MPlayer
-open MPlayer again
-dialog pops up asking if to check for updates yes or no
-after choosing either option MPlayer quits
-logs show 'ilegal instruction' or 'segmentation fault'
actually solved it by deleting the preferences, launching and putting a check on 'automatically check for updates'. Quit and relaunch, disabled auto updates again. No problems after that.

It shows a prohibition sign over the icon.
I wouldn't imagine you need a dual core processor to search images over the internet...lol.

Applejack shows some errors in my iMac when trying to repair permissions. The logs don't have record of on-screen errors. Had to ctrl-C to interrupt.
Same for clear caches, when doing for a user stops and nothing else happens.
Hope this gets fixed, it's a great tool really.
