The complaints are accurate. The latest version of Growl from the App Store can't stay running for more than 24 hours. Either the Dock icon or the Menu item will become unresponsive, forcing you to kill the app.

Do not buy.

Thank you for your replies, I see that there is a another update today. But as to "something unique in your system", I think not. If you go to the iTunes app store, you will read many, many, many reports of the same problem. That is what I was referring to when I said "the complaints are accurate".

The latest version has been running (after a complete de-install/reinstall) without problems for two days now. Hope springs eternal.

Google Earth

By following the appropriate links I was able to install a copy of Google Earth: 1) Without the updater, and 2) Without an installer. Someone is finally on the ball. Congratulations to the person at Google with a clue.

The inability to mark and hide files 'as read' without deleting them permanently is the one thing that drives me back to Unison v1 again and again. For the first time in years I'm looking for a different newsreader.

The system requirements on their web page indicate that this web-based engine does not work with Safari. Up till then, it looked pretty interesting.
