1Password

aglzen reviewed on 26 Nov 2008
Simply a must-have app for me. It's stable, easy, and lets me keep secure, complex passwords for every website without having to actually remember them all.

With the easy backups using the agile keychain or my.1password.com, I can also sleep at night knowing that worst-case, I can still get to everything (and everything's still safe).

Hidden gems: The secure password generator that replaced longtime app-folder resident RPG, the wallet and identity (making a spare 'john smith' one with a junk email saves a ton of time at sites with forced registration).

Overall, I can't say enough good things about 1Password. Well worth the money, and like very few programs (Quicksilver, MenuMeters), it's simply become part of how I use my mac.

beaTunes

First impressions: Very nice!

This could be the missing tool for those of us with giant iTunes Libraries. The BPM and Music color features seem interesting, and may or may not end up being useful, but when it spontaneously told me that I had several spellings for the same artist, and let me fix it with a click, I was sold.

Here's to hoping it keeps improving! (being able to hear songs inside the program would be a nice small feature.) If it's not too costly, you'll have a sale here.

Parallels Desktop

aglzen reviewed on 15 Jun 2006
Wow.

This is what Virtual PC should have been, and what Q would be if it were 5 times faster.

Parallels is *blazing* fast, comparable to boot camp in my tests (running Autocad and rendering in Rhino). It's also rock-solid, and all the hardware including sound and networking just *work*.

I installed it, Windows XP, Ubuntu Linux, and then trashed my boot camp partition two days later.

Someone finally does virtualization right!

DoubleCommand
aglzen had trouble on 01 Aug 2006
Still no luck on MBPs.

Any hope that this will be updated to work?

I've used Doublecommand for years, and it's become an indispensible part of my mac!
