LiSA

Abofrapa reviewed on 22 Oct 2011
I used to use LiSA several years ago, that is, until it became incompatible with one of the earlier Mac OS X updates. I am not always staring at my computer screen, and I think it's very handy to have a nice voice alert you when mail arrives - especially when you're expecting an important reply, for example. The earlier version had an icon that changed color and displayed the name of the sender of the most recent mail. This icon was always visible on the screen. I guess I prefer that to having the sender's name hidden in the menu bar, as it is now. But it's still a great program and I look forward to updates with extra features.

If you really need this shareware, consider Greg Weston's DateServices, which is freeware.

Xtorrent
abofrapa commented on 11 Feb 2007
Many of us write reviews on how good applications are. But there is one very important thing we need to consider before paying for software. Support. Will the author help you when you're stranded? If you have questions, no matter how trivial it may sound to experts, will you get help or make you feel like an idiot? This application does not come with any user manual. When you write for help, they don't send you a reply. Ask yourself, "Do I want to support a company which gives me no support?" Look around, and you'll find freeware which meets or surpasses what Xtorrent can do.

Jammin\' Racer
abofrapa commented on 06 Jun 2006
Danlab Games provides AWFUL customer service. Very awful. For me, there was no service at all! I've sent them two messages regarding problems I'm having with the password they issued for Jammin'Racer. They've never replied any of my mail. I think this attitude gives shareware a bad name. What good is a product if the developer cannot address customers' problems? This doesn't appear to be an isolated case and you'll find many similar complains from those who have to contact them for help. Buyer beware!
