Hi!
I'm a musician and a writer (with not much money earned through those activities... :-(
When I work with an employer above me, it can be as a video or sound technician.
Lately (since about 10 years), I've been working in theatrical shows as a video manager or a supertitler.
I want to live in the UK!
If you've got work for me, there, contact me trough my band's website (after listening to my music, of course ;-).
Bye!

Well, ok, it's working...
But in the end: what's the use? You have to "copy" the source item, then open the destination folder, then click on the operation (copy, paste, alias, symbolic link).
Except for the symbolic link (i.e. if you don't already use some CM to create them), now you have the destination folder open, you just would have to drag the source file to it, without this set of utilities, so the gain in your workflow is minimal.
The only positive thing is that you don't have to organize windows in a way that you can directly drag and drop from source to destination.
I'm searching more something like a CM that makes you copy/move the selected file to a destination folder in a given volume (a bit like what Maxmenus did).
FileCutter and QuickCopy are paying alternatives to do the same thing.
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/21769/filecutter
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/26404/quickcopy
Xshelf is a free alternative, if you don't mind another background app and still have space for drawers (i.e. don't use Dragthing, Sidenote, Slidepad or else... ;-).
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/10996/xshelf
I'm just trying this.
Note that the latest version is not PPC anymore, the only choice left if you want a PPC compatible version is to use the Tiger version found on the dev's site:
http://www.script-factory.net/software/FinderHelpers/FileClipper/archives/oldversions/FileClipper-2.1.3.dmg
I'm still wondering why MacUpdate prohibits suggesting Tenfourfox as a "similar software" on most of the pages dedicated to the other browsers: I've repeatedly tried and have only succeeded for 2 small ones...
I first thought it was because they were distinguishing Intel ones from PPC ones, but it's the same on Camino's page.
There is probably a good explanation I haven't considered, but it looks pretty weird, as if TFF wasn't worth mentionning...
I never had problems with Glims. I use few functions and I thought the light version was good enough for me.
Unfortunately, one of the few functions I use is the "Type-ahead support (auto cmd-f)" function which is not in the light version...
It doesn't really matter, I installed the full version, and it keeps on working good.
Thanks guys! :-)
The first time I've heard about version ten was because of the new Souncloud feature, which is probably the most stupid and useless idea they ever had...
Except for that, it's a must have (I won't compare it to Logic, Cubase or else, it basically depends on your habits, but I'm keen to think that for audio editing, nobody beats ProTools.
Apparently, someone at Avid has just recalled Digidesign once created a page here. ;-D
I won't make a complete review, I'm a faitfhful user (think: the first version I've used was 4.3, if I recall well and it fitted on a floppy!!!), so it's hard to say something bad about ProTools as it has got better and better through the years. The only boring thing I see, at my level, is the iLok key: luckily, some plugin developper are getting rid of it, and you can also make a good job with the provided plugins (which was not the case a few years ago).
Still being a version 7/8 user, I'm stuck to my Mbox2 interface, but now with this version, you should be able to use any one, which is a huge revolution.
I'd be curious to know why it's so hard to localize TFF. I tried to copy the fr.lproj folder in the package from the official Firefox, but it doesn't work (while doing so in Camino to the Camino optimized built works... :-(
Anyway, I'm still a happy TFF user and even more happy at each release!
(providing you use the various tricks to bring back Flash and the like ;-)
It looks like the bunch of users recently deleted for they were here only to give five stars to Roccat have created new accounts... ;-)
Do you really think you can fool regular users? As soon as they'll try and compare Roccat to other browsers, they'll make their choice, no matter what you write here. :-D
Funny enough: thanks to the trick given by Mikael B (see troubleshooting tab) to make TFF Flash compliant again (though it's not supported anymore), It's the best browser I've tested for most video sites! (I know only one that still plays better in Safari)
With every new version, it's getting better and has already lost the heavy and slow behaviour of former versions of Firefox.
All in all, it's the best browser I use: not as fast as Sunrise to load pages, but more stable and without failures; I like Camino, but it became slow on loading pages; Safari hangs up sometimes, you don't know why...
I found bad written sites that shows more badly in TFF than in Safari, but it was plain to see that those sites had problems in any browser.
The future of TFF being dependent of Mozila's choices, it may have problems to follow Firefox "rapid release" pace (see dev'blog), but as it is now, I recommend TFF highly to PPC users!
HUUUUUGE problem with version 1.3.19 here on PPC 10.5.8!
Some of my pdfs are not printing! (while it's ok with version 1.3.18!)
I've only tested some, it appears that they have skim notes or tables or have been edited somehow, I'm not sure of the reason — while one that contains only a scan of an image prints ok.
Crashes when info window was open on last quit (can't succeed in bringing it back).
Solution: fast close the info window on launch, quit and start again.
N.B.: no problem with former versions (actually there xas some glitch but no crash)
Here: iMac g5 PPC/10.5.8
If you intend to use it as a kind of 'SimpleText' with no layout, you'll have half the screen occupied with grey vertical bars on the left and right of the document (which was not the case in Tiger version).
You can drag the borders of the text zone to the border of the window, but you'll have to do so each time, what a bore!!! And no way to save it as a template, AFAIK. Is it the MSWord syndrome? ;-) (i.e. "hard to do simple things")
Oh, and also: version 2.4.4 was localized, this one no.
More: it just crashed while I was only scrolling the menus to see if ther was a language selection somewhere... No Help, The 'About Bean' doesn't even show, the 'move to separate window' function gives strange results (the original window simply disappear, the new one is but a 5mm square that you have to expand manually...
To me it's definitely a Béta!
Hope for you the Intel version is better (I'm on PPC)
Hi! Thanks for your kind answer. :-) It's so rare these days that a dev still cares about ppc users...
The Draft settings work ok, thanks! (but why not setting them to 100%? I can't see the point of having grey zones instead... people are strange if they like it that way! ;-D)
For the rest, I can only confirm the absence of reaction when I click on 'About Bean' and 'Help' and the strange behaviour of the 'move to separate window' function (even after throwing the prefs).
I have no crash report (it only crashed once when Bean 2.4.4 was open at the same time...), but if this can help, I'm on iMac G5 10.5.8)
Here are the console lines the faulty menus (I've just discover that the Bug Report menu doesn't work either, that's why I write here ;-):
27/12/11 14:43:25 Bean[24719] *** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter
27/12/11 14:43:28 Bean[24719] *** -[NSURL initWithString:relativeToURL:]: nil string parameter

To get your 1Password working in Camino (if « unsupported version »)
- Quit 1Password and Camino
- Show Package Contents of 1Password
- Open Contents > Resources
- Open SupportedBrowsers.plist in a text editor or a plist editor
- In the org.mozilla.camino section, Change MaxBundleVersion to 2010.05.20 (for 2.0.7)
- save
I found this trick at Agile's forum, you have to change the date for more recent versions (something like 2012.12.31)
About the "not so easy" way to participate in localization ;-), I found that the browser Sunrise is a real model of simplicity for that!
May be you can get some inspiration out of it?
http://www.sunrisebrowser.com/ (the Development tab indicates the procedure, which is integrated in a menu of the browser)
I've tried versions 6.x and they all mess a disk which has "permissions disabled", making impossible to move any file or folder and to change permissions or anything!
I could only fix the problem with DiskWarrior 4.3.
Note that version 5.0.7 was working correctly.
I recently noticed that this very site (MacUpdate) doesn't behave the same in Camino than in Safari or Firefox!!!
- the top apps of the day (listed in red) are less (today 1 in Camino, 4 in the others — the 3 missing ones don't even show at all)
- when you search for an app via the search field, it gives less or no results (try searching for "Camino", it drops you directly on "Camino Frost" while the others give you 48 results! Search for Cocktail or Awaken: no results! — 13 and 6 for the others respectively)
Another brick in the wall... :-(
I've trashed my app support/Camino folder and it now behaves correctly on Macupdate... probably some corrupt file there inherited from a previous version! I now have to retry the few sites that gave me problems until then, such as Youtube, myspace, facebook...
No problem, you can delete them! :-)
(though it might be useful to someone having the same problem, ain't it?)
For months I thought my searches on macupdate giving no result were a bug from MU, before having the idea to trash things... ;-)
I think I have used it a long time ago for exporting my Camino bookmarks to Google Bookmarks, but it doesn't seem to work anymore: it pretends doing something, connecting and so on but in the end my Google bookmarks stay untouched...
Though it seems to work to sync with the other browsers.
There's also a bug about windows default places (probably only if you have a second screen attached, like me):
Windows always appear on the second monitor, no matter what I do.
I've tried disabling all add-ons, but no way: even disabling that monitor, it takes a while to default ok to my main monitor (after a number of Quit/Restart...), but when I reactivate the second monitor, it soon returns to his former bad habits! :-(
