"For over a YEAR I had trouble getting Safari and Firefox to directly download files from
certain sites. It was absolutely mystifying. Then last week I read an obscure post that pointed toward the possibility that Speed Download was the culprit."
PS3/ Xbox users take note: (from the Playback FAQ page)
Starting with version 1.5, Playback has built-in support for HD MKV files.
1) What's a MKV file?
Quickly put; it's a incredibly high quality movie file. Simply awesome to watch.
MKV or "Matroska" is a media container format like MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV and others. In the last few years, it has become a popular way to distribute high-definition video content online.
Since the format was developed independently, forgoing the usual standardization or approval processes, support from consumer electronics companies has been slow to develop.
If you would like more information with regards to the popular MKV file format, visit the MKV Wikipedia page found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matroska
2) Why is built-in MKV support in Playback a big deal?
Out of the box, the PS3 and Xbox cannot play MKV files. This has been a problem for all users that want to enjoy the high quality of this type of movie file. Traditionally, you would have to resort to often buggy, high resource hogging transcoding to watch this type of movie file on a PS3/Xbox. Starting with Playback 1.5, there is a more efficient option.
3) How is Playback's MKV conversion different from transcoding?
Playback can repackage high-definition H.264 video from an MKV file into an MP4 file. It typically takes only two to three minutes to convert a 1-2GB MKV file. It's a fast process.
The video isn't transcoded; it's simply moved to a new file that can be streamed to a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. Since the video isn't transcoded, there is absolutely no loss in video quality.
The audio is transcoded if necessary for compatibility. The Playstation and Xbox 360 only support AAC-LC in an MP4 container.
MKVs using a video codec other than H.264/MPEG-4 AVC are not presently supported. This feature requires the installation of the free Perian plugin for QuickTime. Please visit perian.org for more information about Perian.

Earlier there was a problem with the coupon code: iwantfast
That problem has been taken care of as of this message. Until April 30, 2010, if you use the above code, you get SD5 at $15 instead of $25.
I apologize for any inconvenience.

Would be wise if PS3MS is actually took note of this.
