I've been using Chrome for half a year or so but I decided to switch to Chromium this morning. It's the exact same thing as Chrome just open source and without any of the little spys running around--at least that's what it seems like.
Awesome little app. I installed it when I first got my mac and I'm glad I did. Finds a lot of files and it's free. Never had a problem with it whatsoever.
I was able to get VMware Fusion for free through my school and thought that it would be a good replacement for VirtualBox. I installed Ubuntu right away, and I immediately saw a difference. I don't know how to explain it, VMware is just "smoother"--that's the best word that I can think of. Since it's made exclusively for Mac, there is a better degree of integration into OS X when compared to VirtualBox too. My only complaint is that there is no OpenGL support for Linux yet, at least that I know of. There is for Windows though.
GeekTool is really cool and it's not only for geeks. Just google geeklets and you'll find a bunch of them. Only complaint is that it's pretty bad on memory. I closed it because it was taking 200 mb of my ram. I'm just glad I'm gonna upgrade to 8 gb of ram--I'm just waiting for it to come in the mail.
Got this app after reading an article about problems sleeping that listed late computer-use as a possible cause. It's working for me so far--three days now. Get the download from the dev's website though.
I used this app since I first got my Mac about five months ago. I deleted it yesterday after reading the comments on here. My computer has actually gotten faster without freeing my memory. This app is useless, just let the OS take care of your memory.
I love this thing. I recently learned the basics of Java and decided to try other languages. With Text Wrangler, I've been able to try Perl, Python, and Shell Scripts--that's all I tried, it's not limited to these-- all in the same place. My only complaint is that when you select "Run in Terminal," it opens Terminal, then you have to Run in Terminal again. At least that's been my experience, not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Oh, and it's free. Simply awesome!
I havent used Parallels or VMWare, but I installed VIrtualBox in order to run Ubuntu and I've had no problems whatsoever. It's so easy to install a new machine because there is literally a wizard for every step of the process. It has never crashed on me either. And now you can even share folders between the host and the guest!
I love Firefox, yet I recently switched to Chrome. Why? Firefox is a memory hog! I got rid of most of my extensions and tried to keep them to a bear minimum but still I would see my memory go. I can open Chrome with little affect on my memory, and I love that because I keep my Mac on for weeks.
It's useful, clean, simple, and efficient. Makes accessing your apps so much easier. Only reason that I gave it a three for stability is because I've only had it for a day or two, so I can't really say much about stability just yet. No problems so far though
