If you want to use this program but find yourself frustrated by the weird registration thing, press 'Donate $5' button, it will open a browser and then auto-magically put in a valid serial into the serial field.
The Author might want to look into that if it is un-intentional.
Otherwise, this program works well and is quite nice.
By far the best free iTunes controller available. However, these things could be fixed. Sorry if these are already there, but obviously they weren't obvious enough for me to notice :) They are mostly in the area of User Interface:
- When using the built in song changer (a very nice idea), there is no easy option to just escape and close the window. I just press enter and that punishes me by changing my active playlist to the library. Ouch.
- How about a WYSIWYG pop-up editor? Also (but separately), something that allows you to change the shape of the pop-ups would be nice, too. For instance, making the curves around the edges smaller so that small text fits nicely into the pop-up.
- Add an option to remove that cumbersome (but pretty) start-up screen.
I like the way that it doesn't lock up like Safari does. Also, I like the way it doesn't haul 20% of my CPU when it's in the background. Well done, guys.
For those of you who only want to install this application (yes, it is great) on their local user but _not_ on the entire machine, an installer is not ideal. However, the installer just moves things around, so it must get them from somewhere. It gets it from inside the Installer.app's own resource Contents, so it is relatively simple to just manually get it out yourself and install locally.
After mounting the disk image that this installer comes in, control-click on the Installer.app's icon, then select 'Show Package Contents'. Find the WinSwitch.menu file in this path:
Contents/Resources/Files.localized/0
and move it to ~/Library/MenuExtras/ in your home folder.
After that you will want to run it and then add it to your LoginItems in SystemPreferences -> Accounts.

- A shortcut to quit the application.
Otherwise, brilliant!
