As a replacement for VisualHub (which will not work in Lion, alas) this is definitely a work in progress, as it will not transcode to several common types and will fail with great regularity to transcode at all. It will also not deal with multiple files. I've found VideoMonkey to be a better VisualHub alternative.

I've been saddled with numerous freezes of 2.0. In most cases, I do contact David and include the log dump of the crash. It searches well, albeit erratically, and will download popular and well-seeded files quickly and usually uninterruptedly. The newest version (.85) seems to have, at least on my own machine, a real problem conflict with NetBarrier- deep freeze. I've removed NetBarrier, but also had another bad freeze, even while running in Safe Mode. Ouch. I did send that crash dump on to the developer. He's always responded, which means he's looking into it- hell, what more can you ask of a developer? Not every problem for every person is going to be solved, to paraphrase Abe.

Change Desktop

The 'Lion' update fails to remember the source folder for images everytime I log in. And it doesn't always successfully add the images once I try. Back to 3.0.6, which works just fine, although I still miss the ability (which it once had) to change the image shown while in the Paused mode. That disappeared a while back. At any rate, at least for me, the 'Lion' update ain't viable.

Been using this utility since it was knee-high to a grasshopper, and it hasn't changed much. It is a chore to set up and not at all intuitive, but once happy, it looks great and is very useful. Would it be better if it talked to iCal? Sure. Would it be better if it saved setups? Sure. Could it use a bit more simplicity? Sure. But it actually does something no other app does, as far as I've found.

One note- somewhere in the move to Snow Leopard, the ability for DesktopCalendar to keep the dropshadow working was lost. Reboot, or log out and back in, and the shadow disappears. A quick Preference open, and it re-appears. A bit of a pain, and possibly a rather easy fix.

EasyFind

Seems to be a bug- several reports, along with mine right now, that 4.5 does not work with 10.4.11 - no window opens, although the app does boot, apparently. FWIW, I've also had a real problem with EasyFind when it finds a long list of items- it hangs and I have to force-quit it.
