Version 2 crashes at start. Version 1.02 works just fine. I am running OS 10.6.8. Perhaps this should be looked at by the developer. I am only leaving this comment here because there is no obvious way to do it on their webpage.
I just installed v2.2.1 on my MBP i7 on 10.6.8. The fan went absolutely nuts. Haven't had fan noise like that since my G4 Titanium. Removed MacFuse, fan returned to normal. Now to get an older version. On the other hand, I think VMware ran a bit better.
Intuit is an unusual company. I bought Quicken Essentials and for what I want to use it for, it is great. Some banks are only best kept track of through financial software. With others, Excel works just fine. I has not interest in all this budget management.
However, when I paid for it, I used my credit card and Intuit kept the details. That was no big deal until they reactivated my TurboTax account and bingo, I paid for it with no refund as I wasn't looking for the purchase. That is very sharp business practice where one product uses financial information from another project to get your cash.
Just keep an eye on Intuit. They have very useless email support and really make it very had to contact them by something other than phone. I just closed all my financial records with them. I have learnt my lesson.
Acrobat X Prof is fine except for printing. My default printer is set for duplex. Acrobat refuses to recognize that, always printing on one side of each sheet. Also, when I choose a printer other than my default printer, Acrobat won't change back to the default the next time I print. I have Acrobat X Prof on W7 running in VMware. Duplex and default printers work just fine. That is disappointing, but to have a button for text recognition is just great.
I really like Camtasia. It is a joy to use. Very simple to understand and its exporting tools are great.
However, don't ever try to get a refund from them. I bought a second copy by mistake. I know that is stupid but it happened. I have emailed them via their webpage and via my account and no money has ever been returned nor have I gotten a useful reply. It might be interpreted by some that they are in severe financial trouble if they use these tactics to protect their cash flow. I don't know and won't comment. Just be very careful.
Other than that, I like it.
Just upgraded to v2.4 and the speed of "twirling around" 3D objects has been greatly increased. Fantastic!! If all the other bits have improved as much, version 2.4 is a must have!
This piece of software is amazing. It does a great job on showing what you design in 3D. For that I love it, but don't try to show it to anyone. Changing floors in 3D and moving around is absolutely hopeless. The displays changes perspective more times than I have changed my socks.
I spent this morning re-designing my house. I said "Here let me show it to you" and I never could get the 3D view to behave. It jumps around; spins around some invisible center point and I can now see what this will only be an toy. And all I wanted to do was get something to show to an architect. Forget that. Frustrating is the word. I had to force quit because I was getting bored looking at the "animations".
So if you want to muck about with your ideas, this is great. If you want to do anything complicated, go by a high-end Mac because maybe then you can control it.
I think this is the last time I shall turn it on although I have a licence.
Pity, and this is on Snow Leopard.
This update has totally destroyed all the passwords for my mail accounts. I have re-entered them, repaired the keychain and they still don't work. This must be the worse update ever.
I bought an Apple Magic Mouse and the speed of it on a large screen was useless. I was about to use it as a paper weight until I discovered this product. Wow! There are so many features that I can't live without this software! I am a long-term user of Steer Mouse and love the way the cursor snaps to the default button. But other than that, you can now have a tremendously ergonomic mouse that is filled with user-chosen features that Apple didn't even imagine putting in a mouse. Plus, you can customise your track pad! Phew. Too good to be true. Get it. And I am not easily impressed.
The downloads work great, even in HD. However they no longer play in iTunes or even get into iTunes. I can go Open, click on the .mp4 file and nothing. Used to work. The developer's webpage has this question in the troubleshooting section but the link goes no where. I'd really love to give them some money if I could watch these shows on my AppleTV. Any ideas?
I like this software. I bought it some time ago, but now it wants a registration code for version 1.29. I don't seem to have one. When I look on the Koingo site in my account, there is no registration code shown although I can see I bought the product. Koingo help seems useless on this. Anyone have any idea on how to get the code? Thanks.
